Swiss Arms accurate?

I own the Classic Green.

The extra cost is justified.

It is a sweet shooting gun, solid as a rock, and I particularily like the gas system's option to give a high pressure blast to the gas system under extreme circumstanses to clear any blockages in there.

Very nice trigger as well.:)

Just wondering, has anyone done much reloading for the Swiss Arms rifles? I know they're not bolts, but I'm really curious to know what kind of groups can be achieved if a little time is put into working up a good load. Is there a particular recipe that tends to work well with these that would be a good starting point?

I keep reading that they're "accurate", but I haven't seen many groups posted!

Also, is either the 1:7 or 1:10 barrel more accurate than the other?
From my 1 in 10" rifle (full size) I get groups under 1 MOA at 100 meters. If I do my part and rest the rifle close to the receiver I get fairly consistent 0.75" groups for five rounds using reloads with Hornady 55 gr FMJBT and 26.5 gr of WW 748 in R-P brass and 71/2 BR primers. With 25.5 gr of the same powder, brass and primers using SPEER 62 gr FMJBT I get a bit better than this. The best I ever got was 0.62" but it was only once. No bad for amass produced service rifle-type.

Very accurate for a service rifle. 748 seems to be doing the job in that rifle.

WOW, RTS, Dude your a ####!
Canadians Kicked some A** at both all those battles and events but lay opff the Swiss man what did they ever do to you, or anyone for that matter?
If you want peace plan for war. And they do and that is why no one would even consider messing with the Swiss, they have the whole country defended, there is enough radiation proof bunkers is Switzerland to hold the whole country+ 15%. They are more prepared for war than any other nation and as a result have not had to engage in a conflict in a very long time, would you not want the same for your children?

It was posted as a joke, but turned into a trainwreck that shouldn't have been discussed in that thread.:canadaFlag:

You started this whole thing in post #5...Was your comment REAAAALLY necessary? Please don't even answer the question.

I have a green special and for an out of the box service rifle its a pretty accurate rifle using the GP90 ammo. I started reloading using 65grain ammo and I must say it loves it.

Get back on track guys. I don't think the extra cost justifies these rifles over ar's.

I've never had a swiss arms failure of any kind. Ask around, they don't happen.

AR's on the other hand the excuses are endless. Never the guns fault its always:

bad mag
bad ammo
bad buffer weight
not enough CLP
not clean
too much pressure on the mag
too cold, parts siezing up
etc. etc. etc.

As if reliability wasnt enough you've also got superior QC, materials, and design in a Swiss Arms.

Definately worth the price. By a long shot.

Amen. I remember a thread a few months ago one guy said he had a FTE with his classic green, another CGN'r commented: oh thank god! you got the one Swiss arms failure for 2010 out of the way now i can sleep at night :p

I find them incredibly reliable with good accuracy for a service rifle.

My biggest complaints are that they like to kick the crap out of the brass and the RH charging handle is kind of hard to operate with a scope on there.

I get under an inch on mine with 75g Hornady TAP 5.56 loads with a 1:7 barrel. M855 and M193 seem about 2-2.5in on average.

I have started a swiss family. Have the rifle, Carbine on order and will have a cqb before the end of april. My excuse for them is upcoming projects...... or so i tell myself.

Thank you very much for your recognition of my 2 years of military service.

How about you do some reading? You best begin here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss_Army article is not quite correct, but it's a start.

I met some Swiss Germans on the train on the way home one night. Train was packed with 'em. They were so generous as to share their kirsch with me. Hard to complain about an army like that!

If all you want is a range queen then the AR is the rifle for you. If you want to shoot coyotes and gophers (and Deer, where 22 CF is legal) then there is a serious benefit to the SAN.

Speckfire - what powder and charge are you using for the SGKs? I've got the same bullet to try out in mine if I ever get a chance to do any load development!
