Went out this morning, -10 with the sun shining and lots of snow on the ground. Sure enough the gophers are out all over the place. My neighbor told me that he saw a pile of them yesterday and I was thinking to myself that he was full of it. Maybe spring is on its way even though it sure as hell doesn't feel like it...

As you can see, there is still a little snow on the ground

I shot about ten in total but the snow is too deep to be wandering around picking up dead dogs for pictures. Yes, I'm lazy

The most we have had all winter, its crazy! It is not so much the snow as it is the huge drifts. Some of the ones around my fence are six feet deep and hard enough to drive on without breaking through.

Now its minus 16 and snowing again

They are fun to shoot for sure I wont deny that, but in all reality they are a pest and a huge PITA if not kept under control. Not really something I would call luck.

Jim saw two this week. Same field we were in last year. Only around the steel fence posts, though. Must be warmer around there with the sun on them. Should NOT be many left in his quarter. We really cleaned them up last year. Gotta find another field for this year.

Never knew them little buggers came out in the snow like that. Used to nsee lots of them years ago when I drove truck across the prairies but memory is dim about whether we saw them in snow.
