Stage for next IDPA session at The Marksmen Club

What activates the swinger? The shooter? How? and When?

And why are T4 & T5 being engaged in Tactical Sequence? P3 is cover so T4 & T5 should be engaged in Tactical Priority (slicing the pie).

The bottom of the swinger is weighted and rests on a piece of wood attached to a rope. The rope is going to run around the left side of the range so nobody trips and someone who isn't shooting pulls the rope when the shooter is approaching P2.

You are correct about slicing the pie when behind cover but stage creator rules trump that. :p

Not if the rules are not being followed correctly.........! :D

It's a Yaris/Glock thing right??????

I would not say that, after all it is only fun and cbabes and the IDPA crew at TMC put on a great weekly shoot.

That looks like quite a fun stage to shoot, good on you Chris.

Thanks Steve. I am actually going to slice the pie from cover. Type-O on my behalf.

Mr. Aqualung needs to get a sense of humour and lighten up. This isn't the first time he seems to have issues with his "presentation" even when he is correct. Maybe he's just a stone cold "operative".

Looks like a challenging one! Nice design! I will slice the pie or not as per instructions...and I will not smile...it will be very official, everyone will be pleased.

One more day gentlemen. I am having IDPA withdrawl. I am bringing out the score sheets!!

Aqualung, if you are in the area and can make it I promise you will still have fun.

Thanks for the invite but I have other plans.

No problem. In all seriousness, I am very open minded and would love some constructive criticism on this stage. We are going to slice the pie on the last baracade so besides that what don't you like?

Basically we will be starting with a baby doll in one arm and engaging T1-T2 in the open.

While proceed to P2 there will be a chair behind the barrel with a no-shoot target in it. We will lay the baby down on the seat of the chair and engage T3 then proceed to P3 and engage T4 & T5. The round count of 12 will result in a mag change for anyone shooting the stage. I really don't see the bad design? The rope for the swinger I have used many times now and it works perfectly without getting in anyone's way.

Looking forward to your input.

I would get the shooter to start with the rope in their strong hand and they can activate the swinger on the start signal. Having someone else activate the swinger can lead to inconsistencies which wouldn't be fair to all the shooters.

Secondly, I would put a vision barrier in front of the swinger when its at rest. I'd rig it so the swinger would appear/diappear repeatedly. I think that's more realistic that a target swinging out in the open.

That's about it. Otherwise, it's a good stage.

Interesting. I like the vision barrier idea, I am going to use it. A curtain and two target stands with short sticks will do the trick. As far as the rope in the shooter's hand I see your point but it ruins the fun factor, especially since the shooter will be holding a baby doll.

To make it fair the rope could be pulled by another shooter as soon as the buzzer goes because the swinger moves for quite some time.

The swinger is activated by the extremely high tech measure of someone behind the line pulling a cord that activates the swinger.

T4 & T5 could be engaged in Tactical Priority had no other directions been given but it is the privilege of the match director to set the stage in anyway they choose. In reality, cbabes ran a skills night where this was practised and it was a bit of a challenge.

Hope you are going to make it tonight!
