My point was why now and why call "Gunsite". .

Why now? Cuz Ruger`s gonna make a pile of money off this puppy! Why Gunsite? The boys at Gunsite were involved in the design specs, and probably get a couple pennies if not some good ol`advertizin. I think both were rightly confident she was gonna sell like hotcakes down in the States anyways.

Nice gun, but I am not really sure that it offers anything unique or new for that matter. I am sure it would sell, but there are other choices out there that are cheaper and probably offer the same amount of practicality and options. I know the Savage is ugly, but the T3 Battue could fill the bill.

Well, more rumors floating around the interweb about this. Word is that Ruger will come out with an export version with an 18" barrel and no flash hider.

I'd heard they were scared of exporting flash hiders but why the 18" barrel?

No clue. Apparently ours will be the same model going out to Australia and New Zealand. Maybe they have barrel length restrictions. Best guess.

Just add a thread protector and it should be good to go. So does anyone enjoy the irony of "freedom loving americans" being more restrictive than "a repressive chinese regime"

I think a nice little CZ bolt action in 7.62/39 with irons and scout mount would be a better idea

It was mentioned somewhere (can't remember) that Americans don't get the cheap X39 stuff that we do up here.

So maybe their thinking is why bother when 223 and 308 are probably cheaper?

Repressive regimes never had a problem with flooding other countries with their weapons. Just think of Soviet Union.

Cheaper to shoot for sure if you aren't reloading, but about the same price or more to build unless you get a good deal on a used CZ and do the work yourself.

Any board sponsors sell Jungle Carbines?

They are commonly available used. There are a ton of LE no.5s in Canada and they are cheap, $300-$400.

Gotta agree with Dorian Gray on this one, I'll keep my No.5 and pass on the $1000 Ruger.
