What do folks think. Is it a question of taste? Thinking of shortening mine. Other than "the look" not sure what the benefits may be.

Right:redface: M305. It has the fluted flash hider which got me thinking about replacing it with an original style. Then..if I'm changing that anyway. You get the drift.
You haven't mentionned the rifle, caliber or your intended use.....

I will paraphrase Hungry: Get one of each.

I have one that I have made as close to the original US military version as I can, and one shorty with an M14Doctor stock for tweaking. I love them both.

My M14 sits next to my uncut no1 mk3 enfield in the safe... They are about the same length and we know how rare full length enfields are getting... Think before you chop.

I have a few uncut Enfields as well and understand the crime it is to alter them. But..a Norc? Based on what I'm reading they are made to be customized or left orig until the cows come home. One of each may be the answer.

It's a matter of taste really. Other than looks the only advantage I see to chopping is making it a little handier as a shorter bush rifle.

Regards,

Ya, this is how I see it. It does look pretty neat with a shorter barrel, but it also offers a fair degree of manouverability in tighter spots. I wan't to cut mine so I can fire it from the truck when we go 'yote chasing or gopher plinking.
