Hello I recently purchased a Bushnell Elite 6500 tactical 4.5 30x50 mil dot. I bought it because they are a very good deal on right now at a place. I have been waiting very patiently for Sightron S3 8-32x56 LR MOA scope to come out to mount on my savage 10 ba. But I can get these Bushnells for such a good deal I dunno if I should just order another one.

My question is what will I gain going from a bushnell elite to sightron? Would I be just as happy with a bushnell elite again? I havent mounted my bushnell on anything yet but at 750 dollars is it worth spending another 150 to 250 depending on whose selling the sightron to move 'up' to it?

Im confused and tired of waiting and I dont want to let this deal on the bushy elite pass b4 I nab 2.

I have used Bushnell Elite scopes for years and I really liked them. My fave was the 4200 6-24AO w/ mildot recticle. Great optics and tracking but limited elevation ajustment.

The new gen Sightrons are so much better then I no longer have any Elites (yes, I still sell them).

I am not impressed with the optics on the Elite 6200's that I have owned and looked through. They don't compare to the 4200's and not even close to the Sightron SIII's.

I have found the tracking on the 6200's to be solid so that should work out for you.

The only real way to determine if the Sightron is what you want is to look through one.

Let me know...

Jerry

Where can you get a Bushnell Elite 6500 tactical 4.5 30x50 mil dot for $750? I have a 6500T and a 4200T and my next will be a Sightron 10-50 LRIRMOA.

Heh. I have that exact scope, and am very pleased with it. Several shooting friends have looked through it and have basically said "That's a Bushnell? Wow". Can't do better at that price point, IMHO.

OP: See if the vendor will let you go out to the parking lot to look through each scope (mine did). That gives you a much better idea of magnification quality and brightness than looking in-store.

From a long-distance shooter's perspective, every bushnell reticle resembles a friggen wrought Iron gate. Waaaay to thick and obstructive. I'd opt for the better optical and reticle quality of the Sightrons any day.

They are damned good scopes for the money. They have come a very long way.

My 2.5x-16x-42mm 6500 Elite cost me $829 at P&D a little while back, so yeeaaaahhhh....

That being said, I will upgrade to a Nightforce or S&B by years end, hopefully.

I took my Sightron SII Big Sky out for the first time today and it was a very nice experience. I was shooting a .223 and could easily see the bullet holes at 147 yards on 20x. The detail really stands out with this scope.

Damn it Jerry! You are gonna make me wait for a lr moa arent you. sigh...well I guess i could interchange this 6500 until it comes. I tried mounting tonight with burris zee high rings on my savage 10 ba, it barely cleared and I cant get cover over it so back to W tomorrow for some extra high something, I hope it clears the rediculous base on these 10bas with a 56 mm objective.

And Obtunded, granted I havent taken this thing out yet, the reticle looks very miniscule so far on what I have zoomed in on, having said that I dont know sh*t about sh*t when it comes to this stuff, I just started buying and now im hoping I like.

If not, there will be a whole lot of very very lightly used stuff come up for sale shortly ha. But I hope its my thing.

Thanks for the input, looks like ill be holding out for the sightron and not settling on another cheap 6500 tactical.

So...HURRY UP SIGHTRON, one thing i dont have is patience!

Good things come to those who wait. Remember in a few months when you are lementing the purchase of brand whatever, we will be enjoying our scopes.

What was such a wait is now 5 yrs ago ;)

By the way, some 2011 Sightrons HAVE arrived so things are moving slowly along.

Sorry, the MOA scopes have not arrived yet.

I have mildot reticles in my LR plinkers and have no issue with this reticle to hit gongs and rocks. FCH for paper punching.

"Guess they got to get rid of the old stock first"

For those unaware, Japan is suffering from a complicated hoffific disaster, however new product is being shipped as it is manufactured and they have started with metric models, now in Canada.

Peter

Was speaking of the Bushnell 6500 Tacticals on sale right now for $620 and $750, not of the Sightrons:confused:
