How good were Browning Auto 5`s

No, I have tried them but not my cup of tea... but I do Own a Browning (Beretta) B-80 plus. It's semi-humpback beats them all ;)

Trying them and owning one are not the same.If you have not owned a superx1 you are in no position to compare it to a A5.Like I said the A5 is a good gun but 1900 engineering it is not designed as well as a superx1 was.
Look at it this way. Nobody at our club is still shooting a A5 for skeet or trap and I know if one guy hunting with one.We still have probally 12 -15 superx1still being used on a regular basis. Bet your cluib is the same. take care

BLASPHEMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It took me a long time to come around, but i love mine.
THere is no shotgun with a better story.
Bennet gets his knickers in a knot. Marcellus Hartley has an untimely death. JMB gets on a boat, goes to Paris then on to Herstal, they knight him, build him his gun, He buys the first manufacturing run, brings them home and sells them faster than planned, causes a change in US firearm importation laws, and keeps the gun in production for almost 100 years.

If I remember the story right.
If I want a good story I'll read a book. If I want a good shotgun I'll buy a Beretta, Benelli or Winchester. ;)

Have a 1964 (IIRC) Light Twelve, with two barrels. One for trap, one for skeet. I do very well with it, and it gets lots of looks. That skeet barrel does double duty for ducks & geese over decoys. The speed-loading feature allowed me to shot four singles out of one flock of ducks one day. I love mine. It's a classic vintage gun that still works well.

Very reliable. Built like a Swiss tank.

Hayya story tellers...........answer the op's question.
Not asking about ford, chev, dodge or the what nots.
The op is asking about the BROWNING A-5 and how, oh crap read the
question.

I thought we did answer the question on how the A5 stacked up:confused:

OK, not as good as any of the Win. Super X models, Browning Gold or silver, the Beretta 300 series, or any of the Benelli guns. Did I forget to mention any other autos that are more reliable than the A5? That's my best answer.

ouch! I love my a-5's. Yes they are heavy but never have I had one jam. I have seen some of my buddies jam on occasion from reloads though. It was a 20 ga. I've seen benelies, remingtons and winchesters jam to though. I've seen berettas jam too. Certain models jam, not just the manufacturer.

Why all the hate for the a-5? Buy one thats not been through hell and back and enjoy it!

The one I use after over 50ish years of hunting and I dunno how many thousands of rounds of informal clay sports split its wooden forearm thats as close as its come to a malfunction as long as I remember to adjust the rings for 2 3/4" loads. Replaced it with a ramline synthetic one and she still feels the same in my hands looks ugly but kills good.
I will never be without a browning A5 if I have anything to say about the matter.

No better auto loading shotgun ever manufactured in my opinion than the Browning Auto 5.Have used one for years waterfowl hunting in all kinds of weather with never a problem.

I gotta call BS on some of you guys...EVERY auto loader I have ever shot or owned has friggin jammed at some point...come on! I mean really.....

Can you be specific on which guys you think are bull####ting? I'm with you that there has got to be some, but which ones?

As I said before, I never experienced a jam with any of my several A5's. If you want to call me a bs'r fill your boots, but since you weren't there, don't really see how you can justify such an accusation.
