The 2011 Calgary Gunshow Report!

Didn't see much more than last years show only spent about $100 on odds and ends.............kinda disappointing...........there's more at smaller out of the way shows...guess it depends on what you're looking for...............Harold

Did not get to it this year though got phone calls about stuff for sale that guys knew I would be looking for. Dang...don't even have to go to the show and still find stuff to buy!!!!!

From my post in another thread:

However, on the whole, I think the show just flat-out SUCKED this year. Compared with last year, it was just a collection of garbage. 99trix had a nice collection of Savages, especially 99s, but for the most part everything else there was just absolute JUNK. Overpriced, far worse than last year, and I think the average age of the exhibitors went from 40-ish last year to "don't sell this man a 3 minute egg without prepayment" this year.

What a bust. I don't think I'll be going next year, and the friend I came with felt the same way - we looked at each other about halfway through our afternoon and sort of said "is it just me, or does this show suck this year?"

Highlights:

1 - Being able to shake hands with Danielle Smith at the WRA booth;
2 - 911 Supply's display, including a good deal on GunVault products;
3 - Leaving.

Last year, I couldn't hardly sleep after I left this show and drove home - this year, it was almost embarrassingly bad... I feel quite confused as to what the hell happened???

What about Lugers, Snipers, Dewats, 1911, P38, Enfields, Nagants, Mausers, Johnson Rifles, PP and PPK, Garands.....Did I miss any! :D

How much for parking, food, etc? :popCorn:

I don't know...we did about ten grand in sales. It wasn't that bad. Mostly small stuff selling. I got all the little things on my list. It was worth driving from Victoria for.

I found that firearms were way overpriced. I left many tables just shaking my head. It almost seems like a lot of the vendors dont want to sell there firearms so they ask outrageous prices. For example there was a .22 cal Ruger Mark 2 for $500 when you can find most on EE for under $300.

Offered one gent $3000 for a Vopo marked refurb G43, he declined and demanded no less than the $3300 price tag. Well his loss since that will most likely be sitting and showing up at more gun shows and merchandise sitting is revenue lost. Spent the $3000 on a SAN Black Target Special instead.

Moreguns Supply had 3 SVT-40's, for $319. Then there was another one for $515 I think. I bought #2, and someone was waiting to buy the third.

I was pretty disappointed. I picked up some BDX ammo and dad picked up an old Remington takedown shotgun so he was pretty happy. I personally liked the table that had a Marlin 30-30 used for $700 and right across at Wolverine they had Marlins brand new for $605.

What about the guy with a Russian Capture KAR 98k for $750!!??!. Did I mention the tag had been marked down from $850.:eek:
