Other than that I like the short barrel. It packs well and if you want a pistol grip there are a few options out there that will work. If you want an AR style grip stock application just make sure it's mechanically fixed and of course You're over the magic length. I've had longer Shotguns in the past and although you don't have the "Luxury" of 6-8 shots, so what You're defensive shooting anyway. Practice your tactical reloads, I'm using this thing for 3-gun this year, we'll see how bad I suck. In short, take it out and try it don't let other people tell you it sucks etc. Make your own mind up. Ohhh and make sure you hang on with 3" loads6" is useless for bear defense
I'd say 90% of the time your going to get into one of two situations.
Your going to see him coming, be able to back out of the area, or if not, send off a warning shot and that should scare him away. If that doesnt work, reload and get ready...
Or your not going to see him until he's right beside you or charging... either way, your not going to have time to get off more than three rounds before he's on you.
In either situation, the extra blast from a 6" or 8.5" barrel is going to be more handy than a few extra rounds. Add a break on there and you have a real blast..... I'd take a small agile unit with the extra control of a full stock over a cumbersome pistol gripped stock with a few extra rounds that I dont need or wont get to use..... also, my break is serrated, I'll get to take a peice out of him before he gets to take one out of me...... thats my opinion anyway.
Gord.
6" is useless for bear defense
Doesn't matter how you phrase or word it.
It HAS to be 26 1/2 inch's long to be non restrected.
People want SUPER compact for bear defence...but a short barrel with a cylinder bore isn't gonna be super accurate at range...also with a tiny barrel its gonna recoil like a #####!!!
It DOES matter how you phrase it or word it. Try using fact instead of BS.
HAS to be greater than about 26 inches OAL (well, greater than 660mm specifically, or exactly 25.9843")....
Where you pulling the extra half inch from?
Your wife.
I have yet to see anyone use a 25-30 inch mic to measure the oal of anything.
I personally have no problem carrying a shotgun that's 26 1/2 inch long, and with a measuring tape it's really easy to see the difference.
