Optima MP-A Review and range report.

@sendmorebrains,
How is this TruGlo red dot sight works on your Hatsan semi auto gun?does it hold zero well after shooting full power OO buckshots and slugs?

I cant say just yet if it will hold zero - I didnt pick up the TruGlo till this week at ProBass ( Vaughan location )

Im going to say that chances are that it should hold - its not airsoft quality like some Chinese made Eotech's can be purchased for under $100. Mind you Ive seen them work and hold zero with 00 loads as well.

Now I talked to the ProBass staff b4 I purchased and they will back this item up with a no questions full refund if it does NOT hold zero. Other than gas Im good with that return policy.

Here is the TruGlo site and more info on the model that I have...

This TruGlo model is intended for turkey hunting use. Now I from what I know, turkey guns use magnum loads, so Im going with the zero holding for my use - which is IPSC shotgun.(lighter loads)

Normally I'm not into cheaper semis or ghost rings on shotguns but this looks somewhat interesting to me. It's nice to see a semi that can take a folding stock for one.

Where can these be found in Canada?

Anyway's I'll add that an upward pivoting trigger is actually common to older shotgun designs like the Winchester Model 12, they go nicer with a conventional stock though are not as well matched with a pistol grip, not a huge deal either way.

Looked fun to destroy the Laptop. I noticed the "sinister" fashion in which you were holding it, any issues with that? I've got a Father who holds guns on the wrong side, and a Daughter, whom we're still not sure about (She's only 3, there's still hope). So I always like to know how lefty's feel about particular guns, especially semi's.

Sinister?? SINISTER???????????? :D :D

Remember that lefties are the only people in their right mind ;) If you don't know of which I speak, please Google ;) LOL

No issues at all man, and it's light enough that the ladies will like it. Even more so with the top folder shootin "Arnie" style
No shells in the face or such.

what kind of aftermarket stocks are available for these

Hatsan has the two types available as Mr.olansky has typed..

Not sure why they have NOT designed an adjustable - I need 11.5" of LOP not 14" for 3 gun matches.

SO what Im going to do is pick up from smacdonald( a supporting CGN dealer) an ATI Shotforce Tactical Shotgun Stock For Remington, Mossberg & Winchester

Its universal but non of the adaptors in the kit work for the MP-A - Since I can get hold of a machine shop.. I will reverse engineer an adaptor so it will fit onto a Hatsan MP-A hence it will probably be the first adjustable stock for it.

I will show finished results ASAP.

Hey there,

I picked up one of these based on Plink's original review and it does not disappoint. Really excellent value for an autoloader, I'm impressed!

One question: would I be able to use the (front) sling plate for an 870 I've seen for sale at theammosource and other places? The sling swivels it comes with are pretty chintzy. I have a VTAC sling on it with the butt strap.

If those don't work I could always get a rail mounted sling swivel at the front of the handguard I suppose..

Thanks for any info!
