Ithaca M37 Defense 8 Shot - Quick Review (Updated Page 3)

Nice looking shotty (original pic) I put a 'WTB M37 Police model' , rifle sights-park, a few months ago and all I got was clowns sending me pics of their duck guns :( , looks like a reissue of the Ithaca 87 'DS' minus the rifle sights:)

I have the 18.5 inch barrel five shooter M37. I like the old style look of the 18.5 and 20 inch versions of the M37. Mine works well. Slugs, buckshot, Kent Fasteel #3s, and skeet loads all work well.

If you want a sling set-up or a left handed safety - give Ithaca a call and talk to Zac.

This is the best shotgun I ever put my hands on.
Highly recommended and in the last edition of "Guns and Weapons for Law Enforcement" You may find a review of defense model from Ithaca.

I've got a few, and I can't say enough good about them.
The odd duck hunter may have cause to dislike thier lightweight for long strings of shooting heavy waterfowl loads. And the tactical types will be disappointed finding extra goodies to put on them.

Just picked one up. I notice the newer ones come with a different tab on the magtube, with a clip for a sling and a stud in the stock as well. Good to go for thowing one of those browning slings on.

Pretty impressed with it so far...can't wait to get out and shoot it.

A sling tab part way up the magtube is much more practical than the sling position on the longer magtube postioned on the barrel extension that locks in place over the magazine cap.
No problem with a natural sling on the four shot model, but the sling is not very comfortable on the 7 shot variant.
The magtube sling stud is better for the 7 (or 8) shot IMHO.

May I ask where you found a new one with the sling mounts?

I just got my 8 shot ithaca defense from Prophet River and it's probaly my favorite of all my 12 Gauges. I was always a Remington fan, but the M37 exceeded my my expectations.

ithaca

Does anyone know of any dealers who carry Ithaca other than Prophet River. Nothing against them but I think they are not stocking Ithaca anymore?
