Alberta Tactical Rifle Issue

The poster should have waited till he got his rifle back. Instead of trying to MILK insurance like every person does when they get a claim, he should have seen he was still comming out positive.

This thread should have gone something like,

"Hey guys just wanted to let everyone know that I finally got my rifle back from ATRS, the one CP damaged. I got a jewel trigger out of the deal, and it's physically impossible for me to tell there was ever any damage. What a stand up guy that Rick is for dealing with this headache. I'll always deal with ATRS."

Well, robertf still has a near new barrel with throat erosion and fire cracking.
At least when it is time for a new barrel, everything will be done to perfection, without complaint. Because he'll be doing the work himself - no gunsmith is going to touch him as a customer.

Now THAT is funny.....and a very accurate statement of fact

If I was RobertF I would feel like s**t now and offer to pay for the work.Well RobertF all I can say is your dam lucky ATRS took the time to do the job they did thats all I can say.
Good work guy's at ATRS.

RobertF one word - FAIL

Rick, hopefully one day I can get you to do such nice work for me, but I will be willing to pay for it myself instead of trying to get Canada Post to.

Exactly what I was thinking. Gunsmithing course at SAIT is likely his only option.

Another "I want to harm a reputation to make me feel better" disguised as an "I need advice" thread.
Personally , I don't deal with ATRS for several reasons, the one however, is because I don't shoot tactical type rifles in which Rick specializes in.

HOWEVER, after reading much of this thread, I noted to myself that CP messed up a rifle, Rick has fixed it, and there is a jewel trigger tossed in??
And this lout hasn't responded with even a "Thanks for the job , Rick"??!!
Crap, Andy, You seem to have hit this one right on the head - nothing but a slam against a dealer who went way beyond what he had to do to fix things, and the customer simply wanting to publicly slam him anyway- ngood job Rick!

And in addition to slamming the business, get a brand new rifle out of it.....

No doubt with his insurance claim Jewell for an X-Mark trigger installed and adjusted.....

With his brake fitted to the new barrel.....

With the new finish applied.....

And the OP still has to send his bolt in to insure that the rifle is in perfect functionning condition, before he is getting it back.....

With any luck at all, the bolt will get scratched, and he will be able to have a new custom bolt installed in lieu.....

This thread must be embarrassing for Robertf, but some have little shame to admit when they are in the wrong especially these days....I have not purchased anything from ATRS yet, but I will be getting one of there lowers in the near future. My list is long of things to get this year, but I'm making good headway now.

...and a big settlement for all the emotional distress he's had to endure.

I know I would be devastated if my rifles were damaged in transit but the anger / resentment would be directed appropriately towards those that did it....in this case it's Can-Post!!

I can't believe this discussion is still going.

Final Score:
ATRS 1 for going above & beyond to help with damages made by Can Post
Robertf: S*cks @ss for #####in' & whinin' up the wrong tree as well as not doing anything to move this along (ie: supply the bolt).

Regards,

It seems obvious that most of you don't understand what's going on here. Yhe OP has very valid points. First is that only ATRS can work with Canada Post on this claim. OP has no 'standing'. It would appear that Rick has been working at the claim. He is not however going 'above and beyond' anything. Canada Post insurance will be paying him to do the repairs, if parcel was insured. Insurance would pay up to amount insured. I am of the opinion that if Canada Post, or any other carrier for that matter, should be responsible for damage to all shipments, and it should be up to them to provide ins. The private trans. co. have to have cargo ins. to the value of cargo. A small claims lawsuit would get this straight, but the shipper (ATRS) would have to initiate this action. Prob. not worth the time involved. The ball is still in Rick's court, as he is responsible for getting op's rifle to him in proper condition. The gray area is 'what is proper condition??' Op says only a new action is proper, Rick says repair is proper. I agree with Rick, but it's not my, or anyone but op's call. I also don't agree with taking private disputes public, however I am not privvy to all the details, so don't know all timelines etc. or what has been said/done so far.

Guess you missed where ATRS has been going back and forth with CP and that they wanted 3 quotes and that time is not compensated for.. Or any of the back and forth with the client... Where do you get that Rick is responsible to get the rifle in working order... The Claim is worth $400...

He could have left the entire mess in CP's and the OP's hands after filing the claim... He did not have to step up

From what I read ATRS is correct in his handling of situation. A new rifle to compensate for a nicked tang that I could fix with a file in 5 minutes? Not feeling the OP's pain...

Really??, I didn't miss anything. It is still Rick's responsibility, no matter how many steps or how much time spent. The OP has NO Standing with any ins. claim. The person/business who took ut the ins. must deal with it. Rick also may have a claim with CP over time spent, but that's a seperate matter.
Also op may have been able to file a claim with his homeowners ins. if guns/sporting goods are on his policy. Ours are. Then his insurer could have dealt with CP. This is the route I would have taken. Wouldn't affect your rates as 3rd. party liability comes in.
I'd bet a paycheck that Rick wishes he would have just sent the guy a new gun and been done with it, but between him and CP they must return op's property in similar condition to what went in the box @ CP.
