223 .. looking for advice

I'm looking at buying at 223 for coyote/varmint purposes.
What is cheap and reliable?
Are Saiga rifles legal in Canada ? Thoughts about quality
I'm debating whether I will sell my Rem 270 to pay for it or just bite the bullet so to speak.

I use an H & R varmint in .223. It's served me well so far.

Saiga is on the variant/prohib list, even if its the 20, 12 gauge, .223 or 7.62x39 its to evil and scary for us Canadians to play with.

I think the cheapest autoloader would be a mini, but their not known for minute of gopher accuracy and their pretty expensive.

Mini-14 Target is accurate at around 1000$

They cheapest semi-auto that can shoot is the Ruger Mini-14 Target.
I've own a Mini-14 and this model is a good, reliable and accurate rifle but I don't like Mini-14 and the M14. (It's just me don't try to figure it out)
AR-15 can be extremely accurate but are restricted, so no hunting.

There are other alternative but they're very expensive (XCR-L and Swiss Arms Green rifle).

I come down on the side of a stainless/synthetic mini 14. Great truck gun and good for running coyotes. The new ones shoot quite well too.

CZ527 Minimauser. Actually designed for the small cases not sized down from a short action. Weighs as much as my 22 bolt action and is a delight to shoot. Just looks right and accurate to boot.

The new, 580+ series Mini-14's are busting the stereotypes, they are very accurate. Look for the 'swell' in the barrel just ahead of the gas block to identify the one you're after. The new sights were put on some of the older, slimmer barrel style too so check the barrel itself. Great iron sights, come with scope rings, and cheap (it's all relative, under $900 for an excellent, stainless semi that will never die). Go stainless for sure. I just bought a 581 series Mini-30, helluva gun!

Sorry I just don't buy into the cheaper is better mentality. Save your money and buy something that you can either customize or will last a lifetime. Cheap #### is cheap ####. Simple as that.

Have to agree here myself own a NEF Superlight 223 topped with a Tasco 6X24, very cheap rig but sub-moa, this combo use with WWb 45gr must account for at least 100 gopher, woodchuck, crow, coyote, i called it my accurate paddle... JP.
