Russian SKS, Using 1979 Surplus, mine does this...

6 inches right at 100, right on at 200, 300, 12 inches left at 385, 18-20 inches left at 500. Elevations are fine, it's like throughing a curve ball?

Weird.

Ive owned 5 different kinds of sks rifles and never encoutered that. You do get "flyers" with surplus ammo. If you fire 5 shots at 100 yards, are they ALL going to the RIGHT ?

I fired 25 shots at 100, all consistantly to the right.

Could the barrel be bent?

the only time i shot mine at 100m was off hand and i got 10" with surplus ammo.

not great, but im pretty new to the gun and i re crowned it myself...so maybe i did a bad job lol

I can put twenty rounds out of my '53 Tula, as a friend put it in his AG42B WTS ad, into "minute of pizza box". One of these days, I'll take time and maybe sandbag it just to see what it's doing. Who knows? Maybe I got a tack driver and need to buff up my shooting skills.

Going to the 100m Range at Chester Grant Friday with my Chinese SKS for the first time, i will give a Range report when i get back.

My 53 Tula will grope a 3inch or less at 100m in a standing position with iron sights ,nice rifle to shoot ,lots of fun and quite accurate in the 200m range with the check surplus amo

Did 30 rounds sandbagged at 100 yard into about a 9" circle with the irons. My eyes are terrible and the target didn't have a clean visible aiming point.

I put a 4x POSP on it and @ 25yards put 5 rounds almost touching into the target. So I was hoping for around 4-5" at 100 yards with surplus but it just didn't happen. I need more trigger time with it. I'm so stubborn I think I might handload for it before I label it "inaccurate".

Bent barrel wouldn't do it, bent back sight or scope could. Or wind. What size are your 500m groups?

500m Groups! LOL! Id say from my spotters feed back it was about 24 inches.

I'm not questioning it's accuracy, I'm quite happy with it in that respect, I just can't quite figure out why it shoots right then left???

out of the box with no sight adjustment, mine shoots about 4" high and a couple of inchs to the right. Groups aren't overly tight but thats got more to do with me. Thats using milsurp ammo from prone.

Let me guess... You were so disapointed at the rifles inaccuracy, you thought the range report would be a waste of time and just too depressing, as I found out.:D

I have a late production(1955/56) Tula in like new condition. It shoots consistent 3 inch groups at 100 yards with Yugo surplus ammo with iron sights. It was on left and right but was shooting a touch high and I had to raise the front sight to lower the point of impact. I never tried any good grade commercial stuff through it yet. This SKS shoots almost as good as my new 858. A friend of mine has a chinese SKS he bought in the 1980's that he made his own receiver( screwed on) scope mount and it shoots 1.5 inch groups at 100 with commercial hunting ammo.

lol.........no i just didn't have a chance to post, at a 100 Yards i was getting 5-6 inch groupings but that had more to do with me than the Rifle (need more practice)...i am more than happy with the accuracy of my SKS as i hit the target every shot and i believe in time my accuracy will improve. Here is a pic of my Rifle. Can't wait until i get my Russian SKS in July.........:)

I don't know, I cant hit anything over 50 yards with iron sights. Could be my poor vision, could be the rifle. I constantly hit the fig. 11 target from 300m with the C7+ C79A2 elcan combo.

Hmmm... you know, I swear my older Chinese sks-d shot more accurate than my russian. I remember hitting the 200 yard tagets fairly easy. Not so with the Rusky.
