I've got a Ruger Frontier in .308 that I really like and the scout is pretty close but it's stainless, has nice peep sights and a 10 round (or 5 if you wish detachable mag.
What's not to like! I don't think any have made it north yet but they are due soon.

I was watching the videos on the Ruger site and it seems like a neat gun. Little lighter and shorter, and with the scope moved up front, well it looks fun.
Just in case you didn't already know....this is the one that is considered "safe" for Export by the United States govt....
This one is unacceptable outside of the USofA,
No threaded barrel and flash hider on the export model but the same overall length so the barrel is a few inches longer as well...

So no threaded barrels into Kanada? I was not knowing. Seemed legit if it came with a flashhider or muzzle brake.
Yeah, I prefer the export version also. The flashider is not a scout essential, and the export version has the correct barrel length.

So just who is importing these? I've always liked the Scout concept, but the Steyr version is far more than I want to pay for a 'all-round utility rifle'.
I agree the 10-round mag is kinda ugly. There's very little reason to have more than a 5-rounder, but for some reason the Ruger Scout is never pictured with one...
. As for the whole flash hider matter...I think I'd have one installed, just for spite. The American export regs are eye-glazingly ridiculous...Ruger Scout rifel
Received mine today via P & D Enterprises. Nice gun. Bead blasted stainless finish. Synthetic stock with pistol grip and foreend chequering. Decent peep sight. Shot a 3" group at 100 yds. with ball ammo. Would prefer a 5 round mag. instead of the supplied 10 rounder. (5 round mag. is ordered). A good addition to my hunting rifle collection.

as far as i understood they only came with the laminate rifle stock
Recieved mine from Epps today and I am pleased. Ordered it Monday and it arrived here in NS today. Small disapointment that it didn't come with the Gunsite Logo on the grip as I had seen in industry photos. Do the five round mags come from Ruger directly?
