M-14b

I cut myself taking it apart yesterday. I guess the rifle is truly my own now.
The more I handle it, the more I like it. A good set of irons and it should be deadly. I'll take it hunting with me as a backup.

"Interesting... Mine doesn't have a bayonet lug"

Was this rifle purchased previously ??
John

I got it "used". It's got 2007 on it. I have been waiting for one since last fall, bugging Marstar. Just before Xmas I was in Gobles (London) for something else and there were TWO of them used for sale. $425. The new one there they wanted $750:eek:. One of the used was a walnut stock, the other synthetic and camoed (ah, no.). So I bought the walnut stocked. Got it home and discovered it had never been fired, still had the packing grease in it. It's stamped M14s 308 on the left side. I suspect it was this lot that they didn't put the bayonet lug on. No big deal, not expecting to be charging out of a trench any time:D. (There was even an M14 bayonet on ebay not long ago) Just interesting some differences.

People were asking for impressions of the rifle. As stated, the flash hider is not spot welded which is a nice bonus and yes it has the bayo lug. I haven't removed it but I don't have a set of castle nut pliars yet.

Thinking of the tweaks done at Hungry's seminar, my rifle has a tight op-rod guide and I do not have to shim the gas system as its tight. I haven't measured the pull but the trigger is quite nice - much nicer than I was expecting. I had a Rauch tactical spring guide so I replaced the Chinese one immediately.

Not certain if I got lucky or whether this was the type of extra QC Marstar was looking for.

The sights I'm not 100% sure about. They seem to click and move properly but I haven't taken her to the range yet to see how reproducible the clicks are.

The gun is stamped CA 10 CN which I presume is the UN gun marking scheme mark indicating 2010 production.

So far I'm pleased - hopefully we'll get a range report on the weekend :)

A WORD TO ALL OF THOSE "PRE-ORDERS PEOPLE"

As you are all aware we took hundreds of pre-orders for the M-305 rifles....

When they arrived a couple of weeks ago we made a serious efort to contact all of you who were involved....

As a result, MANY of our telephone messages have gone unanswered, MANY e mail have not been replied, of course with the mail strike we could NOT send out snail mail....

It has come to our attention that some of the people who place orders have changed their telephone number, changed their e mail, have our messages blocked by spam filters, moved or otherwise remain "unreachable"

We therefore request that all of those who feel that they have been overlooked for wahtever reason get in touch with us ASAP, a short note to me with your pre-order number will do john@marstar.ca

John
Without contact details we CANNOT get in touch....

Does that mean that there are some left over???

got mine this morning.
wife was in the tub, so I managed to get it down to the gun room without having to answer any questions.
rifle looks good. Op-rod guide is a bit loose, but I can deal with that. got the oil cleaned off and rifle all greased up. Just need a decent day to get out to the range to try it out.

I'm waiting for John to bring in the 18-5" shorty.
