As per the O/P's request, here's mine in the Marstar AKM Chassis:

Great stock, I really like it, but sadly this rifle is for sale right now on the EE to fund another purchase that I've been wanting for a while, If anyone's interested, I would part the stock out. Stock is now sold. ;)

The following pics don't look like much now but it should turn out kind of interesting.

I had a really beat up USGI fiberglass stock lying around in my shop that was begging for a makeover. In the other corner sat a brand new ATI synthetic Dragunov style stock for an AK47. Since I don't have an AK and it never sold on the EE I decided to father an M14 Dragunov bastard:eek:

Anyhow, here's the start:)

I chopped the buttstock off at 2 3/8" behind the heel of reciever and cut it flat behind the trigger well.

The buttstock is now permanently attached with a bolt through the grip and some epoxy filler. As you can see there is still a lot of work to do building up the area behind the reciever and I'm trying to think of the best way to accomplish this.

Once the shaping has been done I'll finish it off with fiberglass. Although it will take a while I will keep you posted on the progress.

Turf.....Im interested in seeing the finished "Dragunov M14" project....I have a SKS version of the same stock just laying around doing nothing.....make sure to post pics when its done....Cheers......Wes

Sure thing Wes, it'll be interesting to see how it turns out. It may take me a little while to form and shape the contours but I'll document what I do along the way and post the results.

what kind of groupings are you getting with these rifles ?

I can only speak for the Sages I had and the accuracy of both was outstanding. My best groups at 200 yds were 1 - 1.5 MOA however, I spent nothing accurizing the Norinco M305s with USGI parts. I'm sure superior groups could have been had with more attention to fine tuning.

As for the basic USGI fiberglass stocks and the Norinco Chu wood, again it depends on how much time and money you are willing to spend on tuning. My current Norinco is sitting in a bedded Chu wood stock and gets MOA at 100. That's good enough for the girls I go with and the deer at the business end of my rifle.

this pic has been posted lots...... it's a usgi fiberglass stock customized to an E2 config, with a removeable AR grip as well. One of the first "M14SE2" stocks that came of my bench. I now make them in a new manufacture composite ;)

It's a work of art Doc, all of yours are. I love the functional straight line look to the E2. I wish I had your talent:)

Finally took some pictures:

It's bedded into a Boyd's oversized that I got unfinished. It's not the greatest fit in the world, and it took a lot of sanding to get even close to smooth. I gave it a few coats of BLS, but wasn't happy with it, so I tried sort of burnishing it with a stainless rod and more BLS, and was pleased with the result... I'm gonna give it a couple more coats in that manner to even it out entirely.
