Do you clean your primer pockets?

i do it for all my brass.... maybe look into a SS or ceramic tumbler.. then its just a matter of dacapping and tumbling, untike corncob / walnut media, the SS and ceramic will clean the primer pockets and inside of the case
 
For the most part, just a waste of time to clean primer pockets.
I have cleaned them in the past, but discontinued the practice
several years ago.
Never found one iota of difference in performance in any load
I have ever used.
My time is better spent in other, more useful, endeavors.

I visually inspect them, then use an awl to loosen anything that might be in them (usually only in brass that's been deprimed than sat around for a while, collecting debris from other brass, then I toss the brass in the vibrator for cleaning ... that usually takes care of any minor bits of dirt, etc..

They all get a good inspection before priming after that as well to make sure any media isn't plugging a primer hole.
 
Life is too short to waste time cleaning primer pockets. In fact, I am thinking of getting some universal decapper dies for rifle reloading on a progressive press so that I don't even have to inspect primer flash holes for stuck media after I tumble cases to remove sizing lube.

I use corncob media, and when tumbling 308, I find there is media in almost EVERY primer pocket hole... Typical problem?

I'd go with yes. I still can't figure out why people thought ultrasonic and vibratory tumblers were a good idea for case cleaning as they are designed for fine and ultra fine polishing.(ie detailed engraving)

Rotary tumbling and a wet media like pin shot are designed for things like tumbling brass.

This is typical and drives me bonkers.
I use a cordless drill with a primer tool in the chuck and zip
through them all.
I haven't cut corners yet..............
 
I clean all my cases inside and out until they shine!:D

It takes exactly eight minutes for me to pull this off. 20 to 50 30-06 cases, half liter of water and a tablespoon of Logastina Professional Stainless Steel and Copper cleaner from CT ($4.99), dump it all into my ultrasonic cleaner and turn it on for the 480 second cycle:D

If you were to collect all the crap that you scrape out of primer pockets, you might be inclined to do it always....however it makes me wonder how folks do that when using a progressive reloader??
 
cleaning primer pockets

I deprime my fired brass, and dump them in a vibratory tumbler with walnut media.....does a nice job but always check the flashhole for little chucks of media
