Airsoft accessories

I agree with the klenzer. I started out with airsoft, back when I was ain my early 20s. There is nothing quite like having an organized team of 4-5 guys with radios coordinate an attack on a bunker. It's similar to paintball, except with a higher number of full-auto guns. Like the real deal, airsoft guns can be fully upgraded with different rails, stocks, barrels, etc., that have us spending hard earned $$$.

The mil-sims (military simulations) take it to another level. Instead of the typical 15-30 minute skirmishes, they have challenging objectives (prisoner evac, capture and hold a strong-hold, etc.). Some last in excess of 24 hours and are quite grueling. I still go out occasionally when I want an adrenaline rush, and to me, it still beats shooting at paper targets. I enjoy both for different reasons and have no qualms with either group.

Having had both real and airsoft parts for guns in side by side comparison,i can tell you that Magpuls line of airsoft stuff is the same as thier rifle stuff just without the logo.

Just a further to my previous post about the Magpul PTS CTR stock.... I finally had a chance to take it to the range yesterday, and I must say that any doubts concerning the PTS brand and Magpul actual brand was removed... it felt really solid, absolutely no wobble, and held up just fine so far for 200+ rounds.

That being said, I wouldn't just buy any Airsoft accessory I come across... but I have no real issues buying the PTS stuff, so long as they fit, I know the MOE handguards aren't supposed to fit actual rifles.

My airsoft CTR stock arrived today. Blind test, I couldn't tell which one was real and which was the airsoft. I'm going to put it on my 870 12g next time I go to the range and see what happens. :)

Mortar your PTS- and tell us if it breaks.

The magpul CTR will not break if you mortar it.

I have had trouble getting either into the tube... what am I doing wrong?

if you want the LCF for chewing the cud, at the range bays, fill your boots, you're not going to break anything.
If you want things that work, while on a course, tac shoot, work, stick with the good stuff.
If you're talking airsoft battery operated optics, they have nowhere near the stamina as the stuff they are trying to clone. Nor are they the same internal technogloies.

If you're talking vests, and molle and stuff like, again, if its LCF go for it. If you're running courses, working, or doing moderate to hard use...stick with the non-airsoft

If you're talking airsoft bits and pieces that attach to guns...the way I look at it is, if its a part that I think would require warranty: rails, lights, mounts, etc...then should stick with the real thing. Things like slings, well, you break one, you get a new one, I have a few BFG's, but I also have a couple of airsoft bungees. <--this being the only airsoft items I have.

I think there's also been a cottage industry setup where its the grey area between airsoft/real stuff. Somebrands like strikefire, or something like that, they make very very good-priced RDS that some people use on real and some people use on airsoft.

Personally...if its something operational, high-wear item or should have warranty...is not airsoft.

This is kinda interesting actually.

I admit I purchased 1 airsoft product for my AR. It was a Magpul PTS CTR stock. Though not the "real-deal", but looking into it, the only real difference is in the quality of the polymers used to create the stock. I know, I know... you can't trust "Chinese knock-offs" (kinda a funny statement coming from an Asian guy) but the PTS branch (based in Hong-Kong) is fully endorsed by Magpul. They make everything to true spec as defined by Magpul. So if the only real difference is in the quality of the polymers, and I'm only going to the range with it, is that really so bad? Also, who's to say that the original stock (although provided by Questar) wasn't originally made in China in the first place?

Kinda an offshoot response to the thread...

I was looking into that stuff myself. I was curious is the specs were off so it would only fit on airsoft but I have always been tempted to try an airsoft CTR out.
I got a real CTR and PWS so it would be cool to compare them.

I don't mind airsoft. Got a SPAS-12 by TM that the kids and I enjoy shooting in the back yard, ;)

I have a buddy that is huge into airsoft, when i go to his house i shoot most of his stuff at his indoor range, sometimes at each other:D...knowing i am coming over he'll set up some claymores and gernades on trip wires....he is currently working on an UAV...like i said he is huge into airsoft, the magpul stuff i see on his gear looks legit...all i know is i don't know nothing....

Yea it realize that the actual Magpul CTR stock is near indestructable, however, I'm not running my gun the same way those guys are, nor am I taking it oversees. It's just a target sport shooting gun, so I don't really have any issues keeping it.

Also, how do I know if my original m4 stock wasn't made in china, from the same polymers as my pts stock, i'm pretty sure if i mortared it, than it'd probably break too, so i'm not really sure what your argument is...

sometimes at each other:D

LOL, my wife shot me in the a** with my SPAS when I was working at the other end of the yard one day, 2 of the 3 pellets hit me (1 in the a**, 1 in the calf), hurt like he$$! If I could afford it I'd get the $3500 airsoft minigun for fun :D Not into airsoft for anything more than plinking but seen a full auto M4 gas gun at a Las Vegas gun show that was as loud as a .22 that would be fun to have

Why did I open this thread???
I did get a laugh out of it anyways.
Airsoft is for boys
Guns are for men

Not sure I get how you arrive at that conclusion.

My understanding is that in Airsoft the other guy shoots back. So you have to be able to shoot, move and think better than your opponent.

With "real steel" ranges are strictly one way (for civilians like me....and frankly thank god that is the case). The opponent is a paper target or game animal that can't shoot back.

Based on that one game does seem more manly than the next.....

From the posts slamming the airsoft stocks and grips, I take it most people on this forum are operators working the sandbox  and not range goers. I've never been mortared at the range so I guess the money I saved in accessories can buy me another gun to compensate :D

I thought it would be nice to have an aimpoint 3x with twist mount so I picked up an airsoft clone for $75. It had poor optics but I really liked the way it worked for me. I now have a real steel one and sold off the clone. I think the airsoft stuff is a great cheap alternative to spending big bucks on items you may find do not work for you.
