CZ-75 Pre-B fans out there?

I have recently traded for a CZ-75 Pre-B model. I have done a lot of looking around on Google, and it seems there is quite a cult following for this pistol. A lot of folks prefer it due to not having the firing pin block. Other people just prefer the way it looks with it's rounded trigger guard.

I really like it because it has a certain cold war-ness to it :)

I was hoping to start a discussion about these pistols here on CGN, maybe even some pictures....

Yep, I have a pre-B. Not any specific choice, but I did go for the old stock look as I was then thinking of doing Defensive pistol stuff that needed stock guns.

Hey have you ever tried to see if modern .40 S&W mags will fit it? PM me if you have.

I have not tried 40 S+W mags. I hear Pre-B mags are kinda hard to find.

Do you have any pics of your Pre-B you could post?

I want to post a pic of mine, but I don't know how, there is only an option for a URL...? I can't just pull it off my computer....?
 
I just picked up my Pre B at the gun shop today. It was one of those great deals that you had to jump on right away. The owner of the gun shop told my the story that he had sold it new about 20 years ago to one of his regular customers. The guy got transferred to Montreal shortly after though. He joined a gun club there but since he didn't speak any french, he felt ostracized and hardly ever went to shoot. It was made in 1988 and the gun has a small chip under the slide release and one smaller on the frame. other than that it looks brand new. It came with Pachmayr grips and the originals.

Would have bought a CZ when they first came to Canada, 30ish years ago, in a heart beat. Doesn't fit my hand though.

She is beautiful man! bet you were stoked to see a thread started on the same day you got your Pre-B :)

May I ask how much she ran you?
 
Hey chromearty. I laughed when I seen the post as I was sitting here with the pistol case open for the first time. This gun ran me just a tad over $500 after taxes. But the guy who runs the gun shop in town is getting on in years and some times I think he hasn't even looked at his price tags in years. He's got brand new S&W 629's for $875, 686's for $825. I got a box of Remington Golden Sabers in .357 for 11 bucks one time.
He was showing this CZ75 to another guy as I was in the shop, the guy wasn't impressed with it, but when I saw the price tag I was all over it.

The pistol was made in 1989.... the year of my first truck :) and this is my first 9mm.

not sure about those mags. I like the look of the flat metal baseplate over the plastic #### on mine... oh well.

11 Bucks for a box of .357's!!! nice buy! that's around what it cost me to handload them puppies!

That's not a Pre-B!! GOSH! worst day of my life!!! :) lol just kidding man.

she is a nice piece of iron, I will be picking up a B model some time in 2012....if the world doesn't end!!!! lol

p.s. just had to do a Napoleon Dynamite there... forgive me :popCorn:

I had one about twenty years ago that I wish I hadn't got rid of. I have been searching for it ever since. So if anyone sees a CZ-75 with #111171 please let me know. I would very much like to bring her back home.
 
Bought mine new back in the mid-80's for about $450.00.
At that time there were no aftermarket grips for it (and the factory plastic ones were next to useless). Ended up using Browning High-Power grips from Pachmyer (sp) which did the job quite nicely.
It still wears the HP grips sitting in my safe. Need to get some new magazines as I broke the mag bases during IPSC training in the early 90's.
It was my first centrefire handgun so it has sentimental value (although I prefer my .45's)

I got my own pre-b 75 almost two years ago now at the local big annual swap meet here in Chilliwack. I've used it for IDPA and general plinking for all that time and it's truly a sweet gun. It ain't going anywhere any time soon. I even made a holster for it to use in IDPA. The holster is working out very nicley as well. Obviously the picture was taken before I cut the belt slots in the wings. It's worn OWB on a doubled nice and stiff leather belt that I also made to go with this holster and other types where the rules of any given organization do not allow me to use the two piece velcro style belt. The "smudges" on the gun are me blanking out the serial number.

The gun came to me with an older style of what almost seems like parkerizing on it rather than the new black finish. It's a bit "bright" along some of the sharper lines from holster wear from both me as well as the previous owner.

The neat thing is that they come stock with the same action as the much complimented Shadow.
