Here's some other rediculously priced Garands

As everyone has mentioned before, if you don't like the price, make a reasonable offer or move on.

The only thing I will say is that I think they are slightly overpriced for what they are, a WW2 made Garand with a post war dated barrel and possibly new wood or in some cases a post WW2 made Garand. I believe the post war made Garands when compared to Garands that retain their WW2 dated barrel and wood, should be lower in price respectively to reflect their originality.

Band of Brothers and The Pacific didn't help to keep the prices low for any U.S. made Garand regardless of manufacturing date.

What's wrong with guns going up in value? It only seems to bother those whose allowance can't keep up. If a gun is too expensive for you to buy and operate, buy a "starter" gun such as a 22 or an SKS and start saving.

This is the same advice offered 10, 50 and 100 years ago - nothing's new.

Here we go again, penny pinching haters trying to talk down the Garand market... Hey folks there are plenty of buck fifty SKS to be had....:D

Nope, the SKS that I bought was worth every penny of the $169.00 that I paid for it! Even if you decide to spend $500.00 on aftermarket Rambo wannabe junk for it, it is still worth $169.00 :D:D:D

I sold a pimped out SKS for 200$ and two LE's thrown in. Someone thought more of an SKS than I did...and valued LE's less than I do.
Apologies to Original Poster for deviating from the discussion

I saw the British No. 7 Lee-Enfield .22 Trainer for $2,500 and lusted mightily for it  (it was the only Lee-Enfield trainer to have an actual magazine capacity of 5 shots of .22  ) - it sold the same day it was posted :) (within hours of being posted, IIRC :yingyang: ) , and that's just as well (Kel-Tec's have been eating-away at my firearm fund something fierce ! ).

People do pay what they think an item is worth....

I saw that No 7 go quickly, nice chunk of cash in the seller's pocket now :D.

I know this is going off topic (sorry!) but I have to know, as I am not an Enfield collector, why was that No. 7 valued at $2500 ?

Our (Canadian :canadaFlag: ) single-shot .22 Lee-Enfield No.4 trainer (the C No. 7) was built in the order of aprox. 20,000 (but the "higher-ups" would rather destroy them then allow more collectors to purchase them........:( ), while they only made aprox. 2,500 of the 5-shot .22 No.4 trainer that was the British No.7 ..........

Now a C No.7 can go for around $800 here - but there were aprox. 8 times as many of those as there were British No. 7's ever made.....

I just ran across this one wow $1800 bucks for A $800 rifle !! How long will it be before the cost the cost is over 2K for one. For $1800 it should be A M1D or somthing, makes me sad to see such inflated prices on these rifles. Anyways I feel for the poor bastard who buys this one.

Op, Shut up, it aint your gun, and it seems your not interested in buying it anyways, if you were you would either suck it up buy it or would talk to the seller and try to work out a price.

I've seen sks's on buysell for 500 bucks, over 1000 with mall ninja gear on them, not like i call them up and say " HEY YOU SELLING IT OVER PRICED".

I move on, which i suggest you do.

Ahh that was a British made one, I see.

Now one thing I have seen floating around are C No. 7 receivers by themselves, I am guessing these were made but never assembled ?

I tend to agree with the OP. It's only worth what someone else will pay for it though. That's why these guys tend to bump their posts 20 or so times and I love it how no one ever posts what the guns actually sell for to give everyone else a sense of reality. I've seen some Garands up for 1500 and them you see SPF. Give me a break it's not like someone actually paid that for it. 3 yrs ago I had one posted for 750.00 I actually ended up selling it for 650.00 the same week. Some people are realistic and some are just plain greedy.

Just saw the post and the prospective buyer is getting a few extras in that purchase too.

Actual selling prices of the last Garands I sold:

1942 Springfield: Ask $1200, sold $1200
1940 Springfield: Ask $1600, sold $1600

Quit whining and just plain don't buy it if you don't like it. Yes, the Garands you looked at in the EE sold for what they were listed at in all likelihood. This is still the free world but there are those fighting it.

At these prices, it would have been worthwhile to bring in thousands of those beat up old Korean M1s. Even if they looked like they they were used as oars to row across a sea of salty gravel they'd probably still fetch $800 a pop.

Yikes, I was a Garand owner 20 yrs before then.;) Let me tell you about the mint Letterkenny Arsenal 1969 rebuild, with a new Springfield 1966 barrel, that I bought in 1976 for $150-and thought that I might have paid a bit too much for. Still have it. I wonder what it would fetch today.:)

Mr. Gumpers, no one really cares about your little rant. It's disrespectful and distasteful.

I just bought a rifle for $225 and could have sold it for $500. Thank goodness some little snot did not berate me solely because their opinion differs with reality!

Ever watch Storage Wars and the "wow factor"? Ever been to an auction where an old beater which should be worth $500 sells for $5,000?

I saw that post and a few others and soul searched and decided it was too rich for my money, but more power to all those whom feel that the value of the goods is worth (to them) the price they are WILLING to pay to acquire it.

You can't always get something for nothing, oh but I forgot, that's your generation, your group was raised and educated with the expectation that nobody fails, everybody wins, and you deserve the best because you are the best. SORRY TO BURST THAT BUBBLE :bangHead:

With ANY M1 nowadays it seems the price will start at the $1000 mark. In 95% of these cases it isnt unreasonable. Its sort of like the people who complain about how RC Kar98s are not worth more then 200$. A buddy of mine just paid $1000 for a 1942 Springfield M1 and I think he stole it for what it is. I really dont see the point of complaining about someones ad.
