The GL needs a rail so I can attach an M26.
Thats the trade off with lighter rails, less aluminum for a heat skink.
Generally I think its a worthwhile trade off, (aim more, shoot less) and if you really need to get it hot, well 1) wear gloves 2) the burns are going to be the least of your worries.
I burned a Hk416 rail inprint into my hand shooting a 60rd Surefire mag in one burst - so its really if you want a rail inprint or a non rail inprint

Agreed on the tradeoff. Especially for what we're going to be using them for.
And I don't think our intended users have to worry about shooting enough at one time to get the forend that hot....

Would it be possible to get a burn mark with one of the boutiquier manufacturers' logos included?

What's it like with some rail covers? ie. KAC's covers? Do they just end up melting?
One of the reasons I ask is: I haven't shot my 6940, with the monolith, all that much, and definitely not with any sustained fire.
But I had the rails worked on to accept my KAC panels (that I have a bunch of) rather than utilizing those rubber slip-ons that Colt supplies with the gun.
Top photo shows an over all pic, with the bottom pic, a close up of the rail machined at the L30 & L16 slot to accept the panel. I had it done at both ends and obviously all three rails similar to the KAC forends themselves, to clip on either end.

That could easily replace tattoos and piercings with the tacticool set, might want to look into that - Kevin, how about embossing KAC into the lower rail flats?? Think of it as a value add-on, get a KAC rail and do-it-yourself branding iron in one
PS, you know you're slipping when the CF starts recruiting Aliens and you didn't know about it, though come to think of it some of the local Navy personnel do look a little......off, but it can be hard to tell with the Navy.
