I am not an expert at all but, i think it's a great solid rifle. It's very very well build and works great, feed well, eject well and shoot well. Iv got mine from Tradexx a couple years ago and the overall quality is very good. Some even say the VZ24 are the finest mod98 ever built. Personaly, i prefered the K98 but my VZ24 does as good as the K98 at the range.

The Czech mausers are the equal of or superior to ANY German manufacture K98k. They have a great reputation for quality even those produced for Germany late in WW2. If you have an original VZ, please don't drill holes in it. Try and find one that is already buggered, like a Russian capture mauser.

I have a 1937 VZ-24 with the crest rubbed off and the same markings stamped all over it. (a circle with a "N" or "Z" in it) I don't know what that mark means, but the rifle feels better than my RC K98. I have it forsale actually. Email me for pics if you would like to see it because I can't stand the system of how to post pics on this site. Sorry

:confused::confused:

Wath shoud i do? I want to have at least a 8mm mauser with a scope.
I have this 1937 BRNO VZ24 and a 1939 Sauer & John K98 Mauser ( typ russian captured).

Wich one should be drilled for a scope ? I taught drilling the VZ will be less of a shame that drilling into untouch swastika and waffen stuff ???

Wath should i do ?

Do what I do. Get another one.

There are lots of mausers already drilled and tapped. Drilling your own will just devalue it, so if you like tossing away money and ruining things have at it. Lol

I agree. As I suggested previously, find a mis-matched example with, perhaps a rubbed off crest or markings. That way a D+T won't ruin any markings.

As CanadianAR mentioned, there are some D+T examples already out there so you may consider this option first.

My brother has an all-mixed-up worn-off crest model, it's in the "very good" shape though.

Very, very silky smooth action. A brand-new Savage was like fingernails on chalkboard relatively!

To scope it you need to bend the straight bolt in addition to adding rings, for your information. I still haven't found a Canadian source for a bent bolt or even a straight one to chop and kit, apparently all large pattern Mauser bolts work though. PM me if you got one!

All this talk makes me want to trade for a VZ-24 now :D, anyone interested in a straight trade: a No 4 Mk I * Long branch '43 for a Czech army model VZ-24 ?
