Showering with your rifle?

More importantly, it's not a troll thing. People do it. It works with caked up guns.

I would never recommend it for regular cleaning with live rounds....

Lots of blanks. Now that's a different story:p

I showered with my C1A1 in Vernon in the summer of 1989, as did all of the GMT Coy.... Well, okay, I can't speak for the women, as I never made it into their showers...

I never felt the need to shower with my C7 or C8, regular old cleaning and sometimes a varsol bath worked just fine.

agreed with rubes. varsol eats carbon and the hot water cleans out the varsol then the oil protects it.

too bad rubes doesn't have any stories to tell...

I remember several years ago my entire platoon showered with section weapons and c7s to get them spotless for inspection. Wpns were inspected dry and lubed afterwards. My best advice is to meticulously lube your gun afterwards or you'll suffer endless problems with rust. Even after lubing, frequent lube inspections are required to ensure that there aren't any missed spots that are rusting.

Practically though, I dont foresee any sort of need to shower with a civi owned rifle.

There's no "need" to shower with a military weapon either. This belongs with the use of brake cleaner, dental picks and sandpaper to clean weapons until they are silver.

Just before my time at Cornwallis, i remember hearing that one of the training troops thought that powdered abrasive toilet bowl cleaner was a good idea for cleaning C-7s. Lol, took the finish right off of everything. I would have loved to hear about the inspection the next morning.

Laundry tub, scouring powder and hot water were our friends during Battle School at Wainwright!

A picture from the past! Oh to be young and foolish again....

There's the quonset hut we lived in back in the days of the FNC1A1 :D

Cheers,

I tore down most of those damnenable H-huts starting about '95. Built some nice brick ones for the Brits and a boat load of new facilities for our lads and ladies for the upgrade to ASU status.

You wouldn't believe some of the 'interesting' tidbits that came out from betwixt those nooks, crannys and walls when those quonsets were levelled;)

One time in Vernon Echo company H-hut we towel whipped a guy showering so hard he had to go to the MIR.

He didn't even know who did it either, because he had soap all over his face lol

the whole platoon had to scrub barbeques that night and no canteen for 2 weeks but it was worth it.

LOL. Was it Thursday?

Hahaha hahaha! The ANA dont know where the showers are, you're ok!
I remember tossing mine in my shower kit a few times and clipping it to the shower rod.

I've cleaned a ton of C6/C9/C7 with almost boiling water, so theoretically it should work. Takes a few rounds of clp after to get it properly lubed.
I've done it once with my civy AR, in the laundry tub, it ate almost 1000 rounds that day and it seemed appropriate.

back during my dp1 days we used the orange gojo hand cleaner, toothbrush and hot water. now if my civvy ar gets really nasty i use seafoam spray. i let it soak then wash it out in the laundry tub
