Your Chosen #1 .22 Ammo and Why!

I am still a huge CCI fan!

CCI is so overrated it's stupid. Over a Chrony I've seen CCI ammo vary 200 fps between shots.

My favorite ammo is anything I can buy cheap. I used to shoot the Federal bulk 525 HP ammo, and when it cost $13 a brick I bought it by the case. Now I shoot Winchester Xpert as I can find it fairly cheap and it performs well enough for me out of my rifle. (Of course my rifle loves everything it eats. :p)

Accuracy!

Winchester 40 gr Power Points, followed by CCI Mini Mags. Velociters are pretty good too. Gotta try them on gophers next spring. Got a brick of CCI Blazers to try next. Federal Bulk is crap. Can even hear the difference in powder charge sometimes. Bang, bang, poof, bang!

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. However, I've seen most bulk packs have little accuracy, out of Winchester, Federal, Remington, and CCI. Of them, CCI is the best in my rifles. Not everyone is the same!

Federal 525 for bulk blasting ammo. I find the narrow hollow points feed well in semi autos.

For my CZ 452 I usually shoot American Eagle or Federal Champion. Would try CCI if I found some cheap when I was looking to stock up.

Haven't had great luck with the bulk Winchester stuff... lots of damaged rounds/ftf's.

I spent a good day at the range testing 6 different types of ammo through my gun, I also had a partner so we could minimize human error.

Ammo types:
Federal 525
CCI Std Velocity
Win 555
Win Dynapoint
CCI Blazer
Rem Thunderbolts (so bad at feeding we didn't even test groupings)

Best grouping: CCI std velocity/CCI blazer close second
Worst Grouping: Federal
Best average grouping: CCI Blazer
Worst average grouping: Win Dynapoint
Most reliable feeding: CCI Blazer/Federal
Least reliable feeding: Thunderbolt/CCI Std velocity.

So my best ammo is the CCI Blazer

@J_Scott

was your Win Dynapoint the black box GT stuff or the stuff that came in the white box?

It was the stuff in the white box. It fed reasonably well so I use it and the Fed stuff mostly for the metal targets when I'm just plinking. But I won't buy another box when I'm through with this one.

Ah ok, that's what I figured. I've heard terrible things about the white box dynapoints, but if you see the stuff in the black box (dynapoint GT), I would recommend giving that a try. Put an entire box through my ruger mkiii without any hiccups and seemed atleast as accurate as any of the CCI stuff i've shot.

I'll give it a shot if I see it next time I'm shopping for ammo. Thanks!

CCI Mini Mag 36gr HP has been my go-to round for years. It shoots the tightest groups ever, EVER, in my CZ 452 Varmint.
I seem to get better luck with the HP than the RN ammo in .22LR. Not sure why!?

Win. Target Dynapoint GT(black box)

$23 at most Canadian tires, when it isn't back ordered, so can use up that pesky Canadian tire money.
It is round nose and high velocity so it feeds and cycles in my very, very picky .22 which hates most ammo.

My favorite is SK Standard Plus in my T/C R-55 Benchmark
