Here are some pictures of my Brno 21H rifle and carbine.
Top one is 7 X 57 and the bottom is 8 X 57. Both have double set triggers, most have been screwed up.

Top one is 7 X 57 and the bottom is 8 X 57. Both have double set triggers, most have been screwed up. Last night in a moment of weakness I was thinking of selling them. I put some pictures up asking what they are worth, but that request was deleted by the Mods. Thanks to the mods I have changed my mind and am keeping them. It took me years of looking to find them so giving them up isn't easy.

The butterknife bolt handle isn't my favourite, but, yes, they sure are pretty rifles.

Good to hear! Those rifles are keepers for sure.

I checked on the FRT file, plus a couple of other reference books and a Brno 22 is an F meaning full stock.

The FRT file number for the Brno 22F starts with: 29293-

The FRT file number for the Brno 21H number starts with: 3914-

Mark is correct.
btw the 21-22 series came in 4 versions - full bbl/ 1/2 stock; full bbl / full stock; carbine bbl / 1/2 stock and carbine bbl / full stock

Troll! :D Smart move, nice rifles to pass onto the next generation.

Is Mark correct? It is kind of tough to see, but the OAL for both the 721 and 722 is shown as 41 3/4". I suspect the "7" was dropped to appease Remington. Perhaps the naming system was adopted after this ad.

hmmm - the rifles in that picture appear to have the round receiver without dovetails - very early versions, possibly 1946-7 or so. Although their bolt shrouds (sp) appear to be very 21/22.....

I would guess, as the advert is in English the "7" was added by the importer, as they have been known as either the 21 and 22 or by no real model name forever in CZ.

And your references are?

I really thought this was common knowledge.

30 years of playing with them.

Hundreds of posts like this one. (sadly some of the best on this site are no longer archived!!)

Google is you friend, here are a few, there are many, many more.

I have heard them called 22 and 21 as well with F and H suffixes which does denote full or half stock in the 20.5 inch barrelled rifles which are 22F for full stock. The 23.5 inch barrelled version was just called the 21 as they were never produced with a full stock. I owned one 21 and two 22's(one half stocked and one full stocked) however all were in 8x57mm and I prefer the 7x57 so traded them off. But they are beautiful rifles, far superior in fit and finish to the newer Brnos.
