Hey All,
I was reading about this new m&p in a magazine and was liking what I was reading and looking at.
For reference here is the link for the m&p9 version:

Now what I'm wondering is, what do others think about this and when are we going to see this here in Canada?

I considered one of these because I think the colour is neat. Unfortunately you are basically paying $250-300 more for an M&P9 with a fancy sight, Last time I checked with a dealer they said they had one on the way and it would be around ~$900.

If you search around on google you can find some sight pictures of the gun. I am not so sure I would want to look at 6 dots (3 fibre optic and 3 night). 3 are supposed to be less visible when in light or dark conditions, not sure how well that will work. Also they protrude from the slide quite far which could be annoying for holster draws?

I would rather buy a regular M&P or an M&P Pro Series and get a Cerakote job done on it if you want something a little different. Or try and find somebody who thinks the VTAC sight is cool and sell it to them once you get the gun?

YMMV

Gun is good to go, just had mine out today. The sights are not a problem. They are bright in daylight with the fibreoptic, bright in dusk and dark with the night sights. Used a bladetech holster which has more than ample room for the sights. Are the sights the cats ass, no not really, do they work, yes. Are they fast, yes. But you can also go the XS route for fast sights. Haven't done really any accuracy work yet but it was accurate enough off hand at 7m, about a fist sized group with double taps, singles and multiple shot strings.... I'm happy with it, look forward to running it a few years...

Oh BTW bought mine from GP Tactical - they are on this board, great service!!!

What does that video have to do with Coating? Also that is not a review video, the guy just pulls it out of the box and says a few words.

So where did you hear that the coating was having issues? The second video (click from the first) describes sight issues, which i have heard of before.

Again, where did you hear, read, see that the coating was not durable? I'm interested to find out more.

Thanks!

Sorry. My bad. Copied the wrong link.
soup13 got the one I was shooting for. Relevant part is at the end when he described evident wear after holstering/unholstering.

Thanks guys.

I've drawn the Vtac about a 100 times now. I did notice rubbing on the slide from kydex bladetech holster which looked very much like the video. All I did was take some hoppes 9 and rubbed it out when i cleaned the gun. I'm sure with a regular M&P 9 and black finish, the black rubbings are missed (black on black) whereas on the lighter finish they are immediately apparent.

But it is something that I am going to watch for now that I have seen that video - Thanks Guys!!

It does? Are you sure? I have a hunch that that may just be internet speculation. I have not seen anything officially from S&W that says it does...

NO, the VTAC trigger is the same as the regular M&P trigger. I know this for a fact because I have both of them, well kind of. Anyways, they both feel different. I much prefer the trigger and the recoil on the M&P Pro.

I stand corrected then, I was told this from a S&W rep when I was at Milarm a month ago looking in the store so I took it for truth.

If it is the case, so we get standard M&P trigger, a finish that everyone is complaining of rubbing off, and sights that are shifting and BTW more money for it?

I guess at this point as someone who was genuinely interested in one, is S&W doing something about the finish and the sights in regards to improvements, anyone know???
