Was sighting it in with a new SPUHR ISMS scope mount with a Sightron SIII 10-50 scope, with some factory PMC ammo.

Sorry for the cell phone pics, it was all I had.

Next to a Tikka T3 in 30-06 for scale.

It's not a small gun by any means, but it puts a smile on my face every time I heft it up.

Was pleasantly suprised with the results of the factory ammo after I got it on target at 100 yards.

3 shot group.

4 shot group after I really got it dialed in and started using a rear bag. I was really kicking myself for pulling the 4th and final shot low, it was an amazing group, but it was going to be my last shot so I took it... Oh well.

Still not too shabby for factory ammo.

A quick video of me firing that last 4 shot group.

Enjoy.

Impressive group considering the Ammunition!

I recently bought 400rds of 650gr. pulled bullets for reloading. I figured they would be good for "plinking" but this gives me reason to be optimistic about their potential accuracy.

Me?, ... wouldn't be go'n self critical, iff'n one round of factory .50 stuff went a whole 1/2MOA away from that one-holer.
'Tis difficult to finish an outstanding group. So it is.

Got yerself a winner there Kevin.

You know what I'm thinking. Don'tcha?!

You probably would have had all 4 in one hole...but...you jinx'd yourself at 1:10 in your video......:D. I didn't realize those Steyr's were that accurate. Not bad at all.....

Nice rig and very nice shooting. Love that scope :)

don't beat yourself up. repeat shooting several more groups and you will find that the overall average will put that "flyer" right in the group.

Getting that level of accuracy from that rifle and that ammo is excellent. if it maintains sub MOA at 200 and 300yds, you will have serious giggle factor at 1 mile.

enjoy...

They are pretty accurate. I like mine way more after my modifications. It shoots really well and is solid in every respect. I think that the only thing that I kept was the bolt and barrel. You can find my convo regarding the mods under my user name.

I recently did some load development and found 247 grains of US869 with IVI brass and 750 grain Amax was the sweet spot for my 50. Before the mods 243 grains was the magic number with the same brass and Amax. With the frame changes, heavier receiver tube and 8 bolts mounting the barrel to the rifle changed it's frequency I guess. Lol

ATRS brake does marvels for the recoil and reduces the debris kicked up from the muzzle blast

I have had my rifle out to 2200m hitting natural targets like rocks, ice and dirt mounds. Will be doing the long distance paper shooting as soon as I have a chance. I haven't reported my groupings yet but will soon.

Enjoy your rifle!

Hey I recognize that range!! (Spent many a happy Saturday afternoon there.....)

With your muzzle brake I'll bet it was pretty darn LOUD there.... I'm guessing it's a plugs-and-muffs affair?

I'm surprised the range actually let you shoot a .50 BMG at 100 yards. Curious, what were you looking to achieve at such a short range?

Was sighting it in with a new scope mount.

At our range all sighting in must be done at 100 yards. Besides, I was trying to learn what the accuracy potential was for the rifle with that ammo, so I would know what to expect when I move it further out.

:welcome:

Makes sense.

I've seen plenty of guys spend half a box of ammo trying to site their guns in even at 100yds and not be able to get it on paper. They were the same ones that wondered what I was doing getting my gun on paper at 50yds before moving to 100yds and then further out for bullet drops. LOL

Yup. Mine was not on paper either for the first shot, so the second shot was aimed above the target stands at a lump of soil to do some kentucky windage. :p

The muzzle brake on the HS-50 does not work with my boresighters.
