Was it a Garage Sale Find, a Vet Bring Back, or something handed down to you, something bought on the EE or Auction, the history interests you, you watched Rat Patrol and Combat and liked all the milsurps there, ........

Name that Milsurp. Fire away! :D

:ar15:

Hands down my Fazakerley No4 MK1, the reason why, because it was my first ever firearms purchase aside from that there's just something about the rifle I like.

My Dou 44 german K98. It was surely involved in the war and just gives me this feeling of awe when holding it. Thinking of where its been and what its done. Something alluring about enemy weapons I guess. Having the tools of history in your hands is amazing.

My hand me down ERA Pattern 14 .303 British. It was my first rifle, bagged my fist deer with it, all others are considered in comparison to it. I have trouble finding something else i feel good about carrying in the field.

I have an Oberndorf '44 K98k that went from Wehrmacht to IDF, probably via Czech transition.
Rebarreled to 7.62 by the Israelis. Probably could tell some stories if it could talk.

Swastika scratched but "chicken" still visible and surplanted by Star of David.
Pretty good shooter for its age to boot.

I'm also attached to a 1909 Brazilian Mauser because it 's real purdy.

Hmm....a slightly easier question to answer than "which of your kids is your favourite" and in this case I do have a clear favourite.

It would be the 1940 "42" Mauser P-08 Luger my grandfather managed to bring home from Europe. It came from him to my Dad to then to me and, hopefully, via 12.7, to my son.

It's nowhere near the most valuable, nor the nicest to shoot or admire, but my Yugo 24/47 is my first non-sporter milsurp and will be the last to go.

My favourite milsurp is my 1945 m44 Mosin carbine. My dad bought it for me, I shot a deer in the face with it, and I've bubba'd the #### out of it.

I also have a 1939 "42" Oberndorf k98k,that was converted by the IDF. It's wearing an original Wehrmacht kriegsmodel laminate stock (with brass pins holding the grip area together) an has the branded 7.62 on the stock with chickens intact with smudged out swastikas. It is by far my most treasured milsurp. I really wish this one could talk!

A 1940 SVT40 I named Lyudmila, for obvious reasons. See the link below (LANGUAGE WARNING)

h ttp://www.badassoftheweek.com/pavlichenko.html

It says she used a Mosin, but really an SVT (see pic).

M1 Garand. It's all Springfield, it was my first rifle, it's a great shooter, and the serial number dates the manufacture as Feb. 1944.
If it could talk, I'm sure it could tell some stories.

My 1763 French Fucil de Dragon manufactured in Liege between 1763 - 70. It was converted from a flintlock smoothbore to a percussion rifle at Tulle in the 1840s. During the American Civil War it, like thousands of it's brothers, was shipped to the U.S.

It would be a tie between my Astra modelo 400 in 9mm Largo or my Mauser Espanol 1893 in 8mm mauser, both in very good condition. I cherish both as my Grandfather fought in the Spanish Civil War.

M1 Garand

-Its rugged
-It has Canadian history behind it
-Fantasic design
-Used in 3 major wars
-Pleasure to shoot

This is my favorite milsurp if you could call it that anymore.
Swede Husky '43. Twas already bubbafied, barrel shot out, stock destroyed, so I just finished the project. Re-Chambered in 7.62x39 from a Rem 700 take-off, installed side safety, tuned trigger to 3lbs crisp and bedded into a cheap Century Arms stock. I did all the smithing and turned it into plinker/deer gun.
I can't help it. Love it the most. It just wants to shoot that cheap surplus ammo into a small hole all day.
