To scope or not to scope

Who does what?

Do you scope, do you go just irons, do u have both?

What is your prefered methoid of shooting these guns?

I've been only doing Irons myself.

Told the wife i needed to get another one to do a scoped model aswell, I got a bad look to say the least since i received the one i use with irons just 2 weeks ago.

#2 Garand rear sights with a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot on an Ultimak front rail .USGI stock, Turner Saddlelry sling,SA muzzle brake,NEA op rod spring guide on my Norinco Shorty

#3 Just sold it (plain jane Polytech with irons)


The Shorty with the Ultimak and a reddot is my favorite rifle for hunting

Scope only if budget permits quality components to try it. Even then, it might be great, mediocre or bad. Some receivers are poorly machined and will be a frustration to get a solid scope mount on.

I prefer the old school looks. Irons all the way.

I don't know. I have a classic looking one with a Garand sight and nice boyds stock. A second (shorty) with USGI fiberglass and a 3-9 redfield.

Currently using irons however have been contemplating putting a scope on but i also promised myself i would get proficient with the irons before scoping it ..

Currently running a 2009 Norc with polished trigger , wolff extra power recoil spring , wolff extra power hammer spring , UTG tri rail , Raunch op rod spring guide , H&R USGI flash suppressor / front sight and H&R USGI op rod with specter gear 3 point sling , shooters ridge 9-13 bipod.

Hoping to get an arms 18 to replace the tri rail in the spring and change to a usgi wood stock , and have been eyeballing a vortex viper pst ...

Well, we all have (at least) a standard length AND a shorty, so one with scope & one with irons...obvious!

My shorty with irons is a for sure. I am considering buying a second full-length M305 and setting it up with a scope.

2009 M305 scoped (Falcon Menace 4-18 w/Promag mount) and irons (w/NM hooded rear sight) here. Shortened by Dlask and rockin' the Archangel stock. She's a heavy one.

Iron sights for sure but... I am seriously thinking that this year (2012) I will go with a scope on my rifle because my eyes are getting old.

My m1a is scoped and i wouldnt do that again. Expensive Smith mounts and 1.5" accuracy is reason enough to shoot it with open sights. jmho.

I havnt heard of anyone doing that to one of these yet ..any pics?
Wouldnt that put the scope too high ? And wouldnt the base of the see through mounts still be in the way of the iron sights ??
