AR mag base plates

The use of Magpul Ranger Plates on LAR-15 10 shot mags will reduce the mag capacity to 9 rounds.

This is due to the slightly thicker baseplate. You can overcome this by cutting 0.5 cm off of the bottom of each end of the mag follower. This will allow the follower to sit lower in a full mag. I would suggest if you do that, that you get rid of the original mag plates, and never attempt to change them back without a new mag follower.

What about the ones Marstar includes with some of their AR mags . They call them Tactipul but don't list them separately ?

I don't have any experience with the Marstar ones.

I seem to remember a thread about the Questar ones on here, which may be similar. I think they may also require some modification, but can't remember the exact details. I think we looked at modifying the inner base plate, but that caused issues, and in the end, it may have required the same mod as the Magpuls.

If I remember, you may get 10 rounds into the Questar ones, but they would not seat on a closed bolt.

Given the choice, I would get the Magpuls (from Wolverine, they have them in stock as far as I know) and dremel the lower legs on the follower. It is not a difficult mod, just measure and tape it with masking tape and cut.

Marstar 1's do allow you to have full round capacity in your pistol mag's & work fine.

PM me for more detail's or hit up GothMog aka Mag Wedge for some.
LoL!!!

Could always just use the original mag-pulls from Magpul.... for some reason I thought I remembered reading someone had issues installing them in the LAR15s.... but that could be a while

Satain,

Will the Marstar ones allow you to seat a full mag of 10 on a closed bolt?

Justin,

I think the issue with the original Magpuls may be that the LAR mags are not long enough for the Magpuls to fit on the outside of the mags and still seat the mag in the magwell. I don't have any LARs, so someone else may be able to confirm this.

Thats a big 10/4 buddy ;)

Would it be too hard just to call them yourself and ask?

Failing that, Satain already stated that you could PM him for info, or buy them from GothMog aka Mag Wedge here on this forum.

Not trying to be a ####, but people on this forum are getting to the point where they can't do anything for themselves. "What gun should I buy?", "What barrel length do I want?", "why is my gun JAMMING?", etc.

We can help to a point, give advice based on experience, knowledge, etc. but at some point, people have to do a little something for themselves.

Next time someone asks what firearm they should buy, I will tell them to send me their money, and I will go out and buy the gun I think they should have, and mail it to them.

Regards.

Who is this WE ?
I have been on this site a lot longer than you with a much higher post count than you (not that that means anything) & I'll bet I have owned firearms since before you were born . I don't care what type of gun someone wants to buy .
I asked a simple question if anyone on line knew of a dealer that sold these base plates separately . I know how to use a phone but thought some one might know of a dealer that stocked them . Sorry if that question was too hard for you to understand . f:P:

Sorry if my response was too hard for you to understand.

WE are the people that responded to YOUR request for information.

You have been told more than once to PM Satain for details on how/where to get them, or to contact GothMog aka Mag Wedge for some.

If those instructions are too hard to follow, then perhaps guns are not for you.

As for the length of time on this site, or your post count, or the number of firearms you have owned, or for how long, please, spare me. From what I have seen on this site, non of the above means squat, and is generally (with a few obvious exceptions) an indirect correlation to actual knowledge (you are not one of the few).

I am done here, find your own Tactipuls.

Regards.
