Just got it and have had alot of fun with it, cheap ammo and a sand pit to use it in equals fun!!!!
The SKS is a great Firearm and everybody should have a least one..They are by far my favorite Rifle....glad to hear you are enjoying yours.

I think when the LGR is over, everybody should buy one.
I was never into "commie weapons" for a long long while. I grew up with Ars, M1as, etc etc. What do I wind up shooting the most and have as my go to rifle? A damned SKS. And the little suckers multiply. I bought on in 2004, got 3 more in 2009 and another unissued russian for Christmas. Much more accurate than you think considering all the crap hanging off the barrel, the relative lack of good stock bedding and lackluster surplus ammo. My wife "claimed" one of mine and I find its a fine fighting .30 rifle for a lady to learn how to shoot profficiently. Ive been turned to the dark side I guess
A handsomely stocked Russian SKS may be on my list after they stick a fork in the LGR.

Absolutely love mine. Took it out yesterday to the family farm to try it out, and had a great time. Just plinking mind you but my observation of my first and only SKS thus far - easy to load via the stripper clips, accuracy was all right-all shooting was done with no rests at about 40 yards and several Timmie Horton's x-large coffee cups were blown off the top of fence posts, I was standing in a canola stubble field after all, the gun was easy to field strip and operate. Good times.
Spirit,if you ever make it south 2hrs on Hwy 21...come and vistit with your SKS,have some fun at my farm!...and try this out: fill your timmy cups or even better pop cans with water and shoot-if you hit it with the SKS at 100 yd,there is not much left over...plus the ammo cost for plinking, only the .22 rimfire can beat it,even most of the 12 ga shotshells are more![]()
Just might take you up on that. No coffee cup or recyclable container will be safe.
I love mine too.. Im still not sure why?..
They are too much fun to shoot and refinish, and try to make something decent out of.
Must be my Froidian id, trying to make a very naughty girl, into a nice girl?.![]()
keep them naughty...less boring than "very nice"

You can pretty them up as much as you want! I think about how my grandpa could have bought No.4 Enfields for 9 bucks each, or no 4 T for 24 with the scope. How much do they go for now? Someday, there won't be millions of unbubba'd sks's in original conditionSKS's are putting my future grandkids through college
