Ruger SR40/SR9 question

I realized that there has been a few post about this and I have read them all. My friend just recently bought a black SR40 from EE in Ontario, I handled it and I fell in love with it. I was initially going to buy a CZ 75 SP-01 but the SR 40 made me change my mind.

The problem is that I want one with a black slide and OD green Frame. I saw a few pictures and they looked amazing.

The only problem is that they seem to be impossible to find? I saw an SR9 on frontier but it was sold out. I called EE and they said they most likely could not order them in... Do they only make the SR9 in OD green?

Does anyone know where I could get an SR40 with a black slide and an OD green frame?

Worst comes to worst Il get a black one and Il still be very happy.

They show up on EE from time to time. I do not think they were that popular as far as sales go. Have a look at both the black and bright stainless models in person. It is a matter of taste but od never did anything for me.
 
I shot an sr9 the other weekend. It was an alright pistol, but I love my Shadow and if I were you I'd say stick with the CZ. However it's your money so buy whatever you want!

Yeah I hear OD is not so popular. And usually they do not appeal to me. I have went to EE and handled both the Black 40 and the Stainless. I am not a big fan of the stainless. Its OD or black. I apreciate your timely response!

Just looked at both the sites and they both do not sell the OD version but they do have the black one. Thanks for the links, they are selling them for pretty cheap!

Anyone else know where I can find an OD Ruger SR40 or SR9?
 
I specifically asked at Italian about it and they said they would not bring one in without a SUBSTANTIAL deposit (see - full price) as they just do not sell. And they also said they probably couldnt get one anyway as they were pretty sure they aren't made anymore. I got the stainless one for my wife, oh and get a slip on rubber grip for them, it rocks. They do show up on the EE here once in a while

I wonder why they dont sell? Is it because an OD finish will wear off/fade with use?

And yeah I was at Ellwood Epps last week they sold the last black one to my friend. Il call again on monday and see if they can order one for me. But like I said, last time I asked they said probably not. The next shippement of SR's are mid Jan :(

OP, hold out for the OD, not sure why guys hate the ruger in OD yet the Glock gets a premium for it.

Great pistol, keep looking be patient you will find what you are looking for. Place a wtb ad in the EE.

Thats exactly what il do. Il call a few places to see if they can order it for me as well.

Yep, according to what I've heard Ruger no longer makes the OD frame. Why, I don't know. Maybe it wasn't too popular in the US saleswise.

No, mine is NOT, repeat NOT for sale (and likely never will be :D)
 
One of the site spondors showed the OD in their online store but out of stock. I can't remember which one but I'm thinking either Frontier, or Wanstalls??? I can't remember which sponsor sites I was looking at yesterday.

If you browse around and spot it maybe they can order one for you.

Yeah I seen that but they seem to be out everywhere. I've settled with black but like Adam134 said Ellwood is out and so are most of the online stores. Not until mid to late Jan. Waiting game it is!
 
I really wanted the OD sr9, but like you couldn't find it anywhere.
I ended up buying the stainless and I am really happy with it.
Prety sure that Italien Sporting goods hasn't had the black stainless in stock for awhile
