I have seen all kinds of posts where people are talking like Kar98ks are as easy to come by as 91/30s but i have yet to see one for sale online anywhere...

I only just recently found a Yugo M48BO online and am very tempted to buy one, but can anyone direct me to where I can find kar98ks for sale.

Or if anyone is selling one privately please message me.

There hasn't been any imported in some time. There's no where you can just buy one. You would need to watch the EE or gunshops.

They are around, epsecially if your flexible on what you want.

There's 2 on the ee now.
A nice dou45, and a norweigan capture.

I'm waiting for a response from ee, sent request to join yesterday.

Is it hard to get matching serial numbers?

And I would absolutly love an ss marked rifle, the history behind it would be amazing. Some may be wary of them but I only see more history.

A genuine all matching German K98k is hard to find in Canada but there are a few around. If you do find one, expect to pay $1500 plus. There are a great deal of forged SS 98's on the market. If you come across one, educate yourself in what to look for. The Gunboards K98 forum and the K98k forum are good places to learn from experienced collectors and on the upside there are far fewer forged and doctored up K98's in Canada than the U.S.

The "non-collectable" Russian Capture K98's from 2-3 years ago are all gone and have almost doubled in price, unless refinished or otherwise altered, then they go for less. The EE is the place to go now.

I removed the peeling shellac and the fugly electro pencil marks from mine...

For collecting, you need to get the real num matching k98s out of the US. You would be really lucky to get anything authentic here in Canada as there are very few around.
For shooting , go with a RC k98 or yugo as mentioned.
Good luck either way!

Theres actually alot of numbers matching K98s in Canada, just nobody ever sells them.

As for the OPs comment on SS marked rifles. The SS connection makes nobody who collects these weary. In RC trim they can command $800US, in non RC trim they can rnage up to $5000, and beyond. So dont get your hopes up unfortunately.

So what you want to look for really is determined by your money. I looking for a german coded all matching, and I expect to pay on the bottom$1000, maybe up to $1500

The latest Rumor has it that there are over 5,000 RC (Russian Capture) K98's coming to the USA very soon.

Might be just a bad rumor, might be true. Who knows. Wait and see.

But as you may know, you cant get more history then an RC, definitely served on front lines in world war 2, then was stockpliled for the cold war....

Ive heard that too, but doesnt help us as import fees would make the price unrealistic for an C. they are going for #4-500 down there now plus $300 import fees, and two or three shipping bills, Youll end up with a $1000 RC, no thanks.

How many do you think are in Canada?
I would guess there is 100 times that number in the US.

I dont know how many are in canada. And yes im sure theres 10 times more in the US, but there are alot here. Also 10 times more collectors and 1o times more humped rifles in the US. All Im saying is theres plenty here, just gotta find them and then convince the person to sell one. Thats the hard part.
Alot of members have collections. I personally know where 25+ are but no one wants to sell.

I have one m48bo for sale:)

The last time around, the RC were all imported to the USA, then some came to Canada as they were imported by Lever, P&S, etc, etc.
If the dealers bring them in again, no worries as they do all the work.

Price will all be determined by how much the Russians are asking, and the devalued US dollar come into play.

And if the RC even exist!

Can anyone tell me what a good prize for an M48BO is?

I have found them for 510 bucks. Would that be a decent price?

And to the post about going to a gun show to find some K98ks, would anybody know of any good sized gun shows in toronto or the GTA area?
