I attempted to work out a deal with SFRC to make a package of SKS + ammo and all I got is stonewalled "We can't sorry" basically.

So where is a better place to get my guns + ammo? I'm looking to initially buy an SKS + ammo. I live in Ottawa.

Between me and my brother, I wouldn't mind if the shop had good customer service as well since I plan on buying a few more SKS's. We also need two 12ga pump shotguns, a TT-33, bolt-action rifle for moose and a .44mag for my brother's ATC up north.

We've already bought SKS's from Marstar, is there any other places with a similar price?

Unfortunately we were unable to make a deal at the price you wanted. If you're the same person I am thinking of I suggest going with the price you wanted me to beat. The $75 SKS plus ammo deal that Marstar has is a good deal. I wouldn't call it stonewalled, I was just not able to match the price you quoted.

The same goes for the person who called last week that wanted me to match Moregunssupply pricing....I don't even have to go any furthur with that one.

I didn't even want the same thing for the same price. The deal I asked for was less then what Marstar offers. I'll send a PM with another offer.

There is nothing wrong with a dealer staying firm on his price(s). He is not obligated to negotiate the pricing with you regardless of what the other dealers are offering.

Bad customer service is everything but pricing: so things like returns, honesty, taking the time to provide accurate details of the rifle, etc.

No, I was just a little peeved by the 1 line response with no explanation :/

You'll soon learn that there's more to a purchase than the best "rock-bottom" price. I won't name names, but I prefer to pay a bit more, support a respectable forum vendor, and know you're getting a quality/inspected product with service to back it up.

Take my word for it, if you feel comfortable with the vendor you're dealing with, spend the extra few dollars... to put it in perspective, I just purchased a new Sako, so any SKS is cheap. ;)

I bought a nice looking russian sks with laminate stock yesterday at lebarons (ottawa) for $182 and 1400 round case of ammo is less than $200.

Thing I don't understand is why any retailer even needs to consider giving a first time buyer a discount. Make a few purchases to prove you speak the truth before looking for a handout, then see what happens. Anyone can blow smoke and claim they're going to buy lots of guns. Put your $$$ where your mouth is a few times first before you go begging.

I wanted to support a retailer that looked like they are good, etc. The deal I wanted basically somewhat offset the 4 hour drive I needed to do to pick the gun up. Its a non-issue anymore as I've spoken to Chemist and he explained why he was short with me over email. The issue I had was more to do with the response then the price.

The other reason for saving as much money as possible at first is: Range membership, PAL, RPAL, hunters safety, Range safety course. Just those are over $500, and unfortunately I need to pay for those things, before I can buy a bunch of guns to save $20

Either way, the issue has been resolved and I am buying my stuff at Lebarons and Marstar.

Why should the seller have to pay you to shop there? That is just beyond belief!

You still don't even get the point I made? I had 3 choices to make: (All are the same product)

1) Drive 5mins, spend $400 (Lebaron)
2) Drive 60mins, spend $365 (Marstar)
3) Drive 300mins, spend $415 (Ammo Source)

I've never met any of the retailers before basically, and the purchase I am going for requires to be on the lower cost. So I contacted Ammo Source to see if they could somehow match their competitors. Most people wouldn't even think twice. Don't forget I don't know any of the retailers so there is no brand loyalty at all yet.

Woodbeef > When you travel out of town to a city you never been too before, do you fill up your vehicle at the more convent place that is cheaper, or do you drive around for an hour or two and find a gas station the is 15cents more per liter?

I don't owe any retailer anything, and they don't owe me anything. I went out of my way to try and give a retailer I don't know my purchases and my hard earned cash. If they don't want it, that is perfectly fine. Another retailer stepped upto the plate.

Honestly some people are making this issue MUCH bigger then it actually is. The issue has been resolved with the retailer in question.

As I've said before the issue is resolved. If you have any further issues with it, please PM me and please don't derail the thread any further.
