Wow was I ever annoyed yesterday. My 10/22 just loves American eagle 40gr solids 1.5-2" moa at 100y is the norm... No shattin. But yesterday I was forced to buy that federal 36gr hp junk. Hits were all over the place. 10shot group was 6" ish at 50 yards. Couldn't belive it. I had to walk away and let my buddies gf burn them up. They might work in someone elses gun but just discusting in mine

Well that sucks (for you). My 2 10/22's just LOVE that ammo. However they hate Winchester. My savage Mk II loves the federal too. I am no shooter, but at 50y with the Savage I had 1 1/2 inch groups, pretty sure if somebody else had been behind the trigger it could have done.

i tested many different manufactured ammo in many different .22 rifles. All came back to winchester 333/555 ammo, Most consistant and hard hitting. i only use it now. The federal stuff is non existant in my vocabulary. It was like shooting a shotgun.

Thats too bad... my SR-22 loves the stuff... not one malfunction in over 1000 rounds and groups just over an inch at 50 yards using a vortex Sparc.

Feeds great in my 22/45 as well.

I agree. I have gone through 10,000+ rounds of that stuff in my 10/22's and my MkII pistol with great results and reliability. Its my #1 cheap ammo choice.

In the last 2 weeks, I've had the worst rimfire ammo issues ever, mostly FTF....but accuracy wasn't inspiring either. All the problem ammo~Winchester. (both .22lr, and .22WMR) Federal and Hornady~plugging along, doing it's job well. Had my first Hornady FTF on Saturday, and that's 1 round in probably 500+ Hornady down the pipe.

That's too bad - apparently your rifle has a different appetite than mine. I've gone through probably 50-75K of that stuff in the last dozen years and still have some that I found a couple weeks back with a WalMart price tag on it that read $7.88. I'm still puzzled at how those two bulk packs managed to avoid extinction for so long...

I haven't screwed around too much with different ammo. I'm somewhere in the 7-10 thousand round count through my 10/22. So far my top pick is the AE solid, then remington thunderbolt solid, next is blazer solid then AE 38gr hp and finally the federal 36gr hp. That's all I've tried and I have terrible results with hp's.

It's crazy how drastic theses different bullets perform in different firearms.
I have very few feed/eject issues with either of the AE products. Only a fee out of the brick of thunderbolts, way too many whizbangs from blazer and these federals were jam-o-matic as well as being no more accurate than a drunk blindman firing from a rotating merry-go-round. I'm even more boggled because as I understand AE is federal

I thought I didn't like them, but then I cleaned my 10/22 and they fed fine thereafter. I've switched to dry graphite spay on lube. Doesn't pick up the crud.

I wouldn't blame the ammo. Your rifle just doesn't like it. Many of mine also don't. But my Dlask barreled 10/22 loves the stuff. It shoots like match out of it. Also my Ruger MKIII pistols seem to do well with it.

It just depends on the firearm.

I go for winchester 333/555 for most of my 22 ammo. The federal "value pack" is $26-$32 in this town. Thats not value when the winchesters are $20 or less for 25 less rounds

My GSG likes Federal Bulk, CCI Blazer and Minimag. Hates Winchester Wildcat. Winchester 555/333 bulk is not as bad but the Winchester Commemorative Edition (nickel plated casing) from LeBaron is far better among the Winchester line. I heard Remington HV Rimfire cycles good in semi-autos. But you have to clean frequently.

Likewise. My GSG turns into a jamomatic with Wildcat.

My 10/22 loves the Federal 525 packs and hates the Winchester 333/555 packs. Just goes to show how each gun is different. I probably have 15k plus rounds thru my 10/22 now and it's still going strong.
