The Vortex Sparc is a great red dot for use on a shot gun. I have put around 60 shots with 3" slugs and its still holding zero. The vortex warranty is probably the best out there as well(lifetime), if you every have a problem they will fix or replace. I got mine for $250.

I decided to go with the Sparc on my 590A1. No word on how it will hold up because it hasn't come in yet but I expect it to hold up just fine. I won't know exactly until I run it through a class.

+1. I shot my 887 with a SPARC mounted during a day-long training session. Probably ~30 slugs, ~25 buck, and the rest birdshot. Steady as a rock, was still perfectly zeroed at the end of the day.

Is the Sparc currently in stock anywhere for $250?

Not sure about stock, but Cameraland (link up top) is advertizing them for $200. I got mine from SFRC for $220, but they're showing no stock right now (maybe ask Chemist for an ETA). One Shot Tactical Supply is advertizing for $220 as well, but again...no idea on stock. Plenty of sources though!

More SPARC's arrived yesterday. I'm just filling a few back orders then I will put them on the website. The Lucid is a good choice as well but it needs to go on a Picatiny rail...won't go on a Weaver.

Have a Buris Fastfire mounted on a KAC rail on my 870. It's seen more that 500 slugs and no problem whatsoever. Great optic for just over $200.00

thanks for all the input guys! looks like ill be going with the sparc unless something better is on sale when i buy one this week :D

I've been using Red Dot sights on my 12 ga. shotguns for years, the only time they've ever broken or cracked lenses is when I would let others shoot my guns 'it always happens to new/inexperienced shooters'. They're afraid of the recoil - so they don't have a good grip or stance and when they fire, they always allow the gun to almost fall from their hands. The recoil has to go somewhere when they don't have control of the shotgun, so I've never had problems with failure of a Red Dot, but I've had 3-over 20 years Blow Up on my shotguns.
