Finally gave up the G17 after shooting friends guns better than my own! Just cant get used to the trigger and just wanna have fun.

Choice between a New Beretta 92a1 or a used Sig226(apparently low rounds and mint)

Both feel similar to me and both will take some getting used to but just wanted some opinions on the issue.

Thanks
M

I had a 92A1 (just sold on EE) and loved it. They are nice guns and shoot real well. Plus its cool to say you own the current US military sidearm (or as close to it as possible).

Some people have trouble shooting them cause they are big. If you have shot one and like it, then go for it. Cheaper than the Sig.

I had 5 Sigs over the years and 6 Berettas. Only Sig I have now is a 1911 (sold the P226's and P220). But still have 2 Beretta 92's. I prefer them over the 226.

Also had a number of Glocks, still have 2 and love them.

I have both... in stainless... both very ###y looking...
Both of them are a good choice but a sig with SRT installed has much better trigger reset compared to the beretta.
Beretta inox gets points for gun #### tho

Did you try a SIG with the SRT?

I suggest you do. ;)

Cheers.

I am interested but the offer I have on the table is not for an SRT model.

I can always add it later though no?

At this point the only reason I am liking the Beretta better are the fact that it is NIB from a dealer, and it is pretty damn ###y.

The sig has it's reputation going for it, and both feel relatively the same to me.

They both have strange things called safeties/decockers that I have no intention of using, and they both have some controls in weird positions for me, so they will both take some getting used to.

I have my concerns about the Sig slide release, as I am used to a really high grip on the G17.

In the end there are positives and negatives for both. Just hoping to hear from others incase there is anything I overlooked.

Actually, the Sig has no safety but does have the decocker thing. I use it lots and find it very convenient. The Beretta has a safety that decocks when you engage it. Otherwise, it has no independent decocking capability other than the old, conventional method (thumb & trigger technique).

I have both and they are both fantastic. If you could I'd spring for both (you won't be disappointed). However, if I absolutely had to choose...it'd be the Sig. Only because I find the take down/reassembly to be somewhat quicker (for me) and the SRT (which I did add to mine).

Get the cheaper one.....simple, you started this as the price is the most important. Please don’t use the Jack Bauer / Lethal Weapon, used by this and that army BS. Between the three pistols mentioned here every one has a different weight, grip and controls. Just play with them and choose the one that fits your hand the best. I like the 92s, i like the 226s, i would like one of each both Beretta and Sig ever made....The one i enjoy the most is a 226 with the E2 grips and SRT. Also both guns you are looking at can use a ss guide rod.

They are the same price. So no difference there.

I kinda like the sights in the Sig better as I look into it more.

I take it there will be more choice in holsters, and acc for the Sig, no?
