Ok, Guys. What's this s**t I just heard that ANY AK look-a-like is going prohib? Is someone pulling my chain because I want one? I did a quick check on the interweb but didn't see anything from Canada. Please tell me this is another sick joke.

The term they heard and didn't understand is ' AK variant '. The CZ has no common parts with the AK. Now go buy one! :)

Anything is f*cking possible with the way the CPC is allowing those communist clowns at the RCMP and CFC to dictate things.

The RCMP is going after easy targets - small quantity guns that they figure they can get away with. Too many 858s in the country to make it easy for them, and significantly different enough in design and appearance that it wouldn't fly. There's also so many variants that they've allowed (FSN, CSA, CZ, CZH, etc.) that there is no way they could possibly say they "made a mistake" that many times over. Especially when they did prohibit some FSNs and then ok'd the new batch.
 
Thanks, Guys. I figured as much but Throttle monkey is right that it only takes one. It wouldn't suprise me to find out my dad's .22 Cooey is a dangerous weapon. As for the CPC I wouldn't be giving too much credit there. back when I used to vote for them they would actually try to honour their promises for the most part (so would the Liberals) but Harper hasn't done a single meaningful thing for us except use the LGR to get and keep votes. Don't hold your breath on getting rid of it too soon. As Recce21 said their allowing those who want to disarm us do it and they have (and have had for some time now even as a minority) the poweer to do something about it. I don't want to rant, I am just glad to hear from you fellas that I am safe to pick one up.

funny, i was bull####ting with the the rcmp on the phone while he was checking my RPAL app and he said not to worry about mass owned guns in canada getting reclassified, they are only thinking about going after the ones a few hundred people own and only non-restricted ones at this time

^Yup why is the AK prohibited in the first place?. Why is the Valmet "AK" still non restricted?, why isnt its action a baby killer while the others are?.

Gun control advocates and their legislative writers need to get kicked in the balls repeatedly until the day they die.

For one thing, they both start with the letter "A".

Then both are: two letters followed by two numbers.

From K to P are only l m n o (four letters)
from 2 to 7 are only 3 4 5 6 (four numbers)

Then 47 - 22 = 25 a prohibited

Therein lies the Apocalyptic cryptic messages...........
 
Only a matter of when a "learned " bureaucrat feels a public safety concern coming on that ANYTHING could be targeted for confiscation. Since the Bull scat of the 90's came down the pike , half of my collection cannot be ATT'd to the range,& "grandfathered".

Well the intent of the law was to ban AK rifles
The 858 is according to online forums a better assault rifle than the AK fires the same cartridge and is supplied with 4 thirty shot clips with a flimsy rivet "pinning" them to a legal five rounds.
The rifle is being imported just to skirt the AK prohibition
It's not a hunting rifle and is no target weapon

Why the f**k not? To both of those. Also... not an assault rifle.

Also it is a magazine. I can legally own all the 30 round clips I want. I have cases of 10 round clips...
