The Kimber 84M

I think I have decided that a 84L select grade French walnut should be in the closet. Either .270 or 30-06, but I will add Kimber needs to add the 338-06 or 35 Whelen to that line.

I wish....I had a Kimber 84M Select Grade in 7mm-08 that shot patterns, not groups...Every type of factory ammo you could think of, from Rem, to Hornady, to Federal, and three different scopes...Makes me sick to my stomach to even think about it today...Took a pretty good loss when I dumped it....Loved that rifle from, even before I bought it...Still look at the Kimber sight from time to time....Wish so bad that mine was a shooter....Would love to get another, as I think they are very handsome for the money...Just can't get past that bad taste...Maybe a Cooper....

Sad to hear I'm surprised you never tried handloads, but nothing compares to the sad Kimber story of brotherjack.
I've been waiting for him to post ( or should I say paste ;)) his tale of Montana misery in this very thread.
I genuinely feel for the guy, he really got a stinker.

Captonian, I have to ask...did you run down the list of the usual suspects?
Good technique at the bench allowing no muzzle flip?
Check for poor bedding? (they're all done on a slave action)
Make sure the barrel wasn't contacting the fore-end of the stock?
Check crown?
Erratic ignition, as in light primer strikes, firing pin depth adjusted incorrectly?

This is my 84M Select, .308.
Swear to the good lord it was custom made to fit me, right outta the box. Have owned savage, tikka, ruger, but only the Kimber in a bolt gun now. I would/intend to buy another. I will swap out the scope/rings for some lighter ones in the future.

Its not a Select grade, but they are making it in the Classic...

Oh no, that is nice.......
Is it yours?
Their Internet site says the classic in the 84L is only .270 and 30-06.

No, seen it on 24hrcf. They just announced it at a show in the US, can't remember which. Supposed to be shipping in Apr/May. The barrel is a #3 contour, heavier than their regular contour, but that's probably a good thing.

They are also chambering the 84L in .280AI and .25-06.

They show the other two chamberings in the Select and the Montana, but not the classic again.

I love the look of the classic and the fact that the LOP is 13.75.
I could use a 14" most of the year, but with a jacket can appreciate the latter.
13.5" is for midgets:D

You must be a giant then!
I could use an LOP even slightly shorter, sometimes I think I was born with a backpack on! :p

Or you have the arms of a T-Rex:cool:

No, I do reside where the air starts to get thinner. It is easier to cut a stock down than it is to add to it, and with enough of us samsquatches hanging around the camo bin, you'd think they would at least offer us options.
Then again, I ain't left handed.....

Good technique at the bench allowing no muzzle flip?CHECK

Check for poor bedding? (they're all done on a slave action)CHECK

Make sure the barrel wasn't contacting the fore-end of the stock??CHECK

Check crown??CHECK Looked good...Powder star was very uniform.

Erratic ignition, as in light primer strikes, firing pin depth adjusted incorrectly??looked good

I tried probably 15 + different types of ammo(brands/bullet weights etc), and different scopes...Didn't group good enough to even try loading for it...Best groups around 3''+ out to 6..
