Howdy , i finished my build not to long ago remington 870 reciever , with a hogue stock and surefire forend i put a dominion arms 12.5 inch barrel on it. The certificate says 660 mm or greater for barrel length , and non restricted. My buddy told me since barrel length is now less than 18.5 inches i have to re register it based on the barrel length only even though its oal is 26 or greater. Should i worry about it , and call them to re register it, or say #### it and go shoot it and not bother calling ? i bought the reciever and barrel separate at different times. thanks for the help

I'm nolawyer but pretty sure you need the cert card to support the barrel length in addition to the gun meeting the OAL length.

You should get the CFC to assign a new cert to the gun in the configuration it is now which should show barrel less than 470mm I think?
There may be an existing FRT# for your gun with a 12.5 in barrel already created which should be straight forward??
BTW it will be a different FRT# for a Wingmster vs a express etc....also silly but true.

It is silly but it's how the machine works as of now.

can this be done over the phone ? my buddy made it sound like some cfo need to come to my house to "verify" it ?

I believe you need it to be verified and then the FRT # can be applied.
I think anyone who is a registered verifier can simply provide the CFC with the info but I believe it has to come from them.

Please post how it works out 'cause I am looking to do the same with a couple of my 870's soon.

Thanks

I did my wingmaster with a 12.5 Dlask barrel. They will do it over the phone no problem, just have the gun wth barrel in front of you. I don't know if the norcs have proof marks but they may ask for something

On a side note, how do you like the surefire forend on your 12.5"? Which model of the forend are you using?

Pics!

no no pics cant post still havent figured that out yet. Love it though so far it has the on/off and pressure pad switch built in , its as bright as i will ever need for zombie defence.

And this is my bztch with the CFC and the LGR program... I did the same project using a 14.0" barrel on a Wingmaster. What a run around... Ended up selling all parts separately since my friends scooped up this project. Buddy who bought my 14" barrel had an existing Norc HP9 to justify buying my 14.0" barrel.

End of story... I just replaced the entire project with a new HP9 and now my reg cert says "Under 470mm" for the barrel length!

All this issue is another reason (rant hat on) the LGR has gotta go, because of all it's useless BS and heartache needlessly brought on to fzck with us duck hunters.

There... rant off!

It's not hard. You call them and let them know what length it is. If there is no frt they might call you back. I have no idea what the issue others are having is, I've done it many times.

If it's still non-restricted there's no legal neccesity to change the registration, even though your cert says over 470mm and it's actually under.

What if I change my 18" barrel to a 12.5"? My reg cert says under 470mm, but I heard they record the barrel length in their system regardless, even though not shown on the reg cert.

ok well my buddy talked to one of the sheeple at cfc and i'm not really going to worry about it at the moment i know there is a frt , but he said she told him as long as the barrel is factory component in so many words and not cut , and doesn't affect the oal i think i'm good , i'll just go play with it for awhile , and see how she is . also my surfire is a 618FA/FGA or a 918FA/FGA with Z10 switchblocker. Hungry love that stock where did you get it ? factory remington ?
