Russian M44 Should I bring those

As someone that just bought a nice looking Tula from you I'd have to say that I like the idea of you bringing in some M44's. But I wouldn't buy one since a shooting buddy already sold me his. And it was born the same year as I was. So I'm good for M44's.... :D

Seriously they have enough of a reputation for being a harsh shoulder thumper that I suspect you will not sell them quite as fast as the full size Mosins. I may be wrong on that but the carbines DO have a bit of a reputation in that area. I have to say that they deserve it too. Nothing that a slip on butt pad wouldn't totally cure. Just that with nothing but steel on the butt it's a little harsh. So likely some would not buy them even if they already have a regular 91/30.

Mind you if you can sell them for under $200 I strongly suspect they'll go like hotcakes at a buffet breakfast.... :D

Can you give us a price estimate?
 
I picked up a East German m44 less than a year ago, It was in superb condition less a few crating marks. The bore and metal was perfect. I paid $175

A thread like this only encourages low-ball offers. Surely you've been watching the EE and know what they've been going for. They do come up, but go fast if the price and condition are right. If the one's you get are unmatched,worn out Izhevsk's, then it is what it is. If they're nice, sign me up for three.

I'd be in for one, although I think a realistic market price would be 200-250. When every dealer had them for sale sure they were going for 150-195, but those days are over. Just look at the price of M38's. Of course a price of 200-250 is based on the rifles being your usual half decent shape refurds, not beaters and not unfired refurbs/nonrefurbs.
 
I got a mint, unfired Polish M44 for 250$ to my door. I think a realistic price for Russian M44's is 175-200 if they are in good shape.
 
Any truth to Ukrainian/East European arms now having UN export marks on them? If true I think that seriously mars their value down.

What is the NRA Grade on them? Just so we have an idea what might be on the way and expect to spend.

New Unissued?

Arsenal Refinished?

Reinforcement Screws?

Repairs to Wood?

Used? Good-Very Good.

Bore Condition?
 
Milarm has a few I think at $225. I want one, but won't shell out more than the $169 (before tax) that I paid 2 years ago for a beauty from TradeEx. It would have to be like somebody else here said. All matching #'s and packed in cosmo before I'd consider one at the $200 mark.
