Sam 1911

I haven't taken any of my own pictures yet but here are a couple that the seller had on the EE of my SAM Commander-E .45 :

Thank you for all the help guys!!

Quietwhisper: Thanks for the dovetail info
and how does your wife like the 1911 in 9mm? My wife likes my Kimber but not in 45.

Skinny 1950: I like it a lot, especially the solid trigger, and the controls are not over done. Think I am leaning to the SAM! Looks like a well made pistol for a great price.

Anyone have a S.A.M 1911 45e full size. I'd like to see some pic's because the one on Wolverine's website just don't look that good to me. It may be an option for my first 1911.

anyone have more info on the SAM? where is it made? how does the quality stand up to a STi Spartan. I'm asking as the STI Spartan is a very well made 1911 for the money.

So if quality is right up there with STI / Armscor / Rock Island Arms for less $$ then I'm very interested in knowing more about this 1911. I know that for under $400 the Norinco is a very good value but the finish quality is missing from that gun and most times it needs to be tweeked abit.

I forgot to ask two of the most important questions,

1) how is the trigger?

2) does it have that *&!!**%$ 80 style firing pin safety?

Wow RIA!! Thats awesome! I think I will have to pull the trigger and grab one of those! They just seem like such a good deal.

My SAM hasn't missed a beat.
Even light SWC's without issue.
Triggers nice enough as well.
Ridiculous pistol for the price...so happy with it.

I couldn't find another thread to ask this in but this one started going in the direction I was after sooooo..... Just wanted to know if shooting 200gr instead of 230 in my norinco 1911 would be alright with the standard spring. I picked up a couple hundred 200 gr to reload and didn't notice til now! I usually shoot 230 but wondered if I should load a lighter charge than normal to compensate.

200gr LSWC are pretty much all that I shoot out of my Norc Commander. As for reduced charge, check your reloading manual. I'm sure you will find 200gr loads listed.

Took my SAM Commander-E to the range today and took a few pictures and shot about 40 rounds through it. I also took my old Colt 1911 to test out the new barrel which I have spent some time fitting.Last time out with the Colt I had a few FTF so I ground out a bit more of the feeding lip and polished it,no failures this time.
The SAM is a good looking gun with minimal markings on the right side of the slide and none on the left. I started out with a full magazine (8 rounds) and it worked flawlessly for the rest of the 40 rounds. The trigger has some loose travel to begin the pull then snugs up and requires very little effort to fire.
I am not a highly experienced .45ACP shooter but all of my shots at 15 yards were on the paper unlike some of my earlier attempts.
Overall I am really pleased with this gun and would strongly recommend it as a low cost entry level 1911. It remains to be seen how durable the finish is..only time will tell but the finish on this gun when I got it was nearly perfect. There is a bit of bright metal showing on the frame where the safety slides up and down and the very sharp serrations on the safety make for a really positive engagement/release.
So here are some pictures from the range today:
