The Glock 17 is arguably one of the very best 9mm on the market. Does this hold true for the other calibers in it's lineup? In particular, if one wanted a .45 would the Glock 21 be a top choice or are there clearly better choices?

Very best? Lol... No...
Glocks are reliable, there reputation is built on that... A massive aftermarket parts industry built on barrels and trigger upgrades tells me Glock left the end user room to improve on there design.
My only issue is the price of ammo. I don't have the time to reload my own , otherwise I love it.
I've heard reports that the .45 cal blocks are not as reliable (re: have had more issues) as the 9mm and .40 cal versions. i don't know if there is any validity to that, it just seems to be a consensus that i have found over the internets. take it for what its worth. I know there is a glock forum. perhaps read around there and see what those guys say?
Yes that is valid but mainly the ambi mag release ones failing at the mag release.

The aftermarket parts for glocks has nothing To do with improving the design. It has everything to do with parting fools and their money who can't shoot and think they can buy and bolt on skill.
TDC
Lol, yeah, that's why the aftermarket for HK & SIG is virtually nonexistent in comparison. Oooooh, does that say more about Blocks or Block owners?
Bwahaha! So all these guys are just buying parts because they're sick of dealing with that nasty "perfection". That's just a whole new brand of stupid.
