Hey guys,
Trying to sell a rifle at the moment so i can purchase another more practical calibre +for the lady friend.

Noticed the XS7s has an adjustable trigger, not sure it come out with that when i first seen them, had been a while since i checked out marlins rifles!

They seem fairly cheap over here, an using google they seem to be Cheaper in the States and Canada.
How do they stack up in regards to a good, decent no frills rifle. what flaws do they have?
your personal opinion on the rifle?

Adjustable trigger, able to be adjusted light "enough"?
normal scope mounts all good, or do you need a rail type mount?
Recoil pad soft?

Its half the price of a T3 , which would be a gun for the wishlist later on down the track, but for starters im looking down the marlin line.

cheers guys
WL

Had an XS7 in 7mm-08 and probably should have kept it. A very well made inexpensive rifle that didn't need the trigger adjusted right out of the box (in my case at least). Very accurate shooting with a smooth precise action (fluted bolt) and zero problems with feed/extract. Internal box magazine. They come from the factory with a one piece weaver base. I found the recoil pad to be of a good quality too. Overall a great rifle and I would highly recommend this gun to anyone. They are on sale at Wholesale Sports here right now (camo/synthetic in 25-06) for $279! :)

Excellent rifle for the price. Shoots right along with more expensive rigs. The only flaw that I've seen is that the extractor design is not the strongest/most reliable. Had the extractor pop out on a hunt and get lost. He had a new one in the mail right away from Marlin, but that didn't help while he was hunting that day. That was an isolated incident. I've worked with several XS/XL7 rifles, and they are truly great for the dollar spent. Marlin took all the best attributes of their competitors' rifles, and packaged them into one, affordable gun.

I have an XS7 in 243.
For the price, they are top-notch!!
Mine shoots lights out, and I have had zero problems with it so far.
If I had any criticism, it would be the stock, but it, too is adequate.
Worth a look, for sure.

My 7mm-08 is the most accurate rifle I have owned, the trigger feels great, they come with a decent recoil pad. My opinion, they are the best "budget" rifle on the market right now.

That accurate enough for ya?

edit: someone get me a goat!

Isn't the 7mm-08 just a necked down 308? If so, handloading should make for some fairly "manly" loads ;)

Reminds me of the old TV ad for that soap named after a season in a European country. "Manly yes, but I like it too." ;)

Anyway, just ordered a new XL7 in 25-06 for $279.95 (WSS). That's just plainly a ridiculous amount of rifle for this kind of money. :)

Without question, the best deal by far!

Absolutely love my xs7 in 308, gets under 1.5" groups with cheap ammo and the trigger is like the savage accutrigger. The only thing I dont like about the Marlin xs7 is that they don't make it in.223 yet.

What about the stock do you find lacking? I am thinking of buying one, and maybe putting it into a Boyds. Thanks!

The one I handled, the fore end was like a wet noodle, still might try one out anyway for a truck gun. prettier than the Axis.

I sure didn't mind the factory stock on mine! I found it quite comfortable/not too bendy. But I like the weight and feel of my boyd's better!

Got one in 7mm-08 over Christmas. It shot so accurate, I went out and bought one in .270 the next day. I put the .270 in a Boyd's Stocl. Both are sub moa all day long with handloads. I had two friends also go out and buy them and they too are shooters. They are not Cooper quality, but for the price they come with a very nice trigger and are undeniably accurate. My $.02

You must have handled one that was special production. :D

I have bought seven of them, and the stocks on all of them are quite stiff. Not one of them shoots over an inch with handloads!
