The CA has what would be a restricted length barrel in Canada.

front sight is really the only difference.
It is personal preference, I just prefer the gas block front sight.

The only thing stopping me from buying one of these is the front sight. My guns not only have to work good, but look good and that tall gangly sight is a huge turn off for me.

No way shape or form similar to the AR platform more like the G36/AR180 & SCAR bolt and bolt carrier except they threw on the gas piston and made it apart of the bolt carrier too.

I'm not saying it would be illegal to have one but I'm pretty sure you can no longer have them IMPORTED legally.

I think you are very correct. Vault is the importer of Kel Tec and I'm pretty sure I read that with Kel Tec making the Canadian only F version, Vault won't be bringing any other variants in.
Until someone else does the importing, the F will be the primary Canadian SU16.
To be nit picky, you likely can't have them exported from the US due to the calibre markings and threaded barrel.
All good on the Canadian side for importing.

Ah then I shall be non-nit-picky when I say, if there are none to export, there are none to import, and therefore, my statement is correct
(just being a weener after further research you are CORRECT about the reasons for non export status)I have fallen in love with these rifles over the past 2 months, I can't wait to have one! I would purchase one in .22 caliber and I already have in my hands a free floating RIS for my first rifle!
As for the restricted status of the folding stock, has anyone checked if this rifle is specifically mentioned (in that configuration) on the list of prohibs somewhere because I found a post on Vault distributors that claims they were denied the SU-16CA model because of the caliber stamp and barrel threading... They wouldn't even look at it
(remember I am just a newb believing it's possible that this would prompt them to add it to the list if they won't LET them in they probably don't WANT them in)

Gas tube, sights, foldable pistol grip stock, threaded barrel, caliber stamp... I think thats it
I believe that Canada does have some whacky rule about the caliber stamping and the SU we get has been stamped .223 just for us but not 100% sure. I could see the 16C or CA being listed as restricted with it's barrel length but not prohib. I imagine it comes down to what most people are wanting and importing what they want and that's a non-res foldable which makes the F it.
As I mentioned in the other thread, the only stock that is mentioned by name as being regulated are the bulpup ones.
The SU16CA cannot be prohibited by name or the SU16F would be prohibited as a variant.
Vault was denied export from the states with regards to the SU16CA because the US does not allow threaded barrels or military calibre rifles out of the US.
Not a damn thing to do with our classification system.
It's simple, the SU16F configuration is the basic configuration that the US will allow export of & Canadian regulations considers a non-restricted rifle.
The charlie stock is not here, because no dealer carries them yet.

I do not mean to talk down to you, or single you out. Just I have followed the su16 from the beginning, and listened to a few dealers explaining more than once it's not their fault, but US export laws that prevent them from having the same configurations brought in as the Americans can get.
Our laws are complicated by themselves, and throw in some weird US export laws and it gets even crazier.
The ruger gunsite scout rifle, a bolt action, was exported without the barrel threading & flash hider that the US rifle has.
I don't know who makes the export laws there, but they are crazy.
Apparently they must think only American gunsmiths can thread a barrel or install a flash hider???
