I had Guntech toss together a .223 Rem on a Rem 700. The barrel is a slightly used Hart in 14 twist. I wanted a slow twist as I only wnat to shoot 30 and 40 grainers out of it for PD's and Yotes.

I shoot a 6PPC so I have VV133 and it shoots GREAT. Velocities are good with ES and SD accceptable.

I then worked with a blend and it appears to shoot great but the velocities, ES, and deviation SUCKED. It shoots well but is dirtier than the 133.

I then decided to try Benchmark as I had a pound of it sitting around. Well I'll be, the velocities are AWESOME as is the ES and SD. Under 5fps for either.

Looks like that may be my go to powder for the .223. I LOVE seeing those low numbers.

Just curious what you guys have seen across the chronograph with different powders?????????

I use Benchmark for my 17FB and bolt 223 and H335 for semi auto 223. I'll be trying 69gr bullets with the bolt and don't know if Benchmark will work or if I should be switching to Varget. It's supposed to work well with light bullets in the 308 so it might be OK. Benchmark is definitely a good powder.

I burned through a lot of H4895 in .223 Rem. But since a friend convinced me to give W748 a try, with its perfect metering and no sticks to cut- I guess thats my new "go to" powder. Plus it works great in the .30/30 and similar too!

HART 1/14 Twist really likes 52gr Berger Match.53 Sierra MK flatbase
Your VT 133 works great as well Benchmark, Lighter load of Varget. H332
Hart barrels are one of the best barrels out there today

:agree:
It also works great in my .308's! :D

For lighter bullets H322 and H335 worked well, IMR4198 was great if temperatures were consistent but my go to is Varget.

Hands down WC735. If that runs out, I will go back to W748. Ball powder measures as smooth as poop through a goose for that mass production reloading.
