Took her home today, then to the range, 100 rounds later and this is what we're left with.

Picture doesn't quite depict just how much darker the cylinder really got.

Pretty nasty. Needs more elbow grease than just a good rub with a fine cloth, I tried googling a bit and some say Mother's is a decent product. (one guy suggested vinegar, which apparently turned out to just darken the other guys steel, yikes!)

Whats worked for you?

~thanks!

I usea stainless polish from Canadian Tire called peek. Works wonders. Still takes elbow grease, but cleans her up nice. If you keep going it will shine it to a mirror

Mother's products (at least the ones I've used) are polishes not cleaners. If you'd like to shine up the stainless finish they work great but if you want to keep the brushed or bead-blasted look they won't work very well.

Brass brush from Rona plus Ed's Red plus a little elbow grease. Brass brush will not scratch stainless steel, works well for my shiney stainless revolvers...don't know if it will polish up brushed stainless finishes though. Keep the brass brush away from your toothbrushes, ouch!

BTW, 100 rounds is nothing. Try 700 rounds between cleanings...I will never do anything that foolish again:D.

Ed's Red: equal parts Kerosene, Varsol and Automatic Transmission Fluid; Lanolin optional ( I have never added lanolin as it is only for long term storage)
