what is a drop pouch? I am assuming this is a pistol match only. are those of use shooting 38 supers/9 mm major/357 sig open going to be forgiven for using FMJs?

Walter this is an "IPSC Style" match, while we request that lead bullets be used, it doesn't mean that you can't use FMJ. As this is an "IPSC Style" match, you don't require at black badge. As an "IPSC Style" match since it is not a sanctioned match, as Match Director, I get to play with the rules. A drop pouch is a pouch used by soldiers to drop their magazines into once the ammunition in them is expended, so that during a lull in combat you actually have magazines available.

This match has been designed to be both fun and challenging for shooters at all levels, thus the flexibility. I would like to attract new shooters who don't have a lot of money into the sport, and I've tried to make it challenging enough for experienced competitors. I'm trying to convince my wife to shoot the match with a .22 Conversion Kit on my Gov't Model. She's never fired a 1911 design before but she has shot a dozen Cowboy Action matches (including the Nationals).

not a problem on the rules but i am old enough to know that if i am wondering then there are probably another dozen who are as well. so if i read your post correctly you are requiring magazine retention via the use of a drop pouch to put your mags in instead of dropping them on the ground.

Good on the use of bullets since moving lead out of a supper at 1350 FPS they have a tendency to tumble just a bit, LOL. Besides i hate cleaning lead out of my comp and gun!

Hi Walter,

I think Garand mentioned lead bullets because he plans on using steel targets during the match and wants to minimize the chance of a piece of jacket coming back.

Hi Garand,

All I an say about your choice to shoot revolver in this match, is good luck old man see you on the 22nd.

And with that let the siht talk begin.

Everyone else

Hope to see as many of you out there as possible! Should be fun, Garands last match was good fun. If you don't have a pistol I have an extra revolver and holster in 38 special. If you feed it I can help you out.

:stirthepot2: Okay sonny, the old fart will show you how to shoot a revolver properly! :stirthepot2: An the wife will show you semi auto guys how to shoot with her pink Kimber! :D:D

Registration starts at 0845, ends at 1100 am, that way we aren't putting match equipment away at 8 PM at night cause the last guy decides he isn't going to register until 3 PM. A few years back we had a gentleman show up to watch at 10 am, he decided to register to shoot the match as everyone else was finishing at 3 pm. Everyone else took off and 2 guys were left to put everything away.
