Gsg 1911

Out to the range again tonight, I put 150 rounds down range. I now have 900 rounds through the GSG 1911.

I had about 5 or 6 failures to feed. The round didn't even come out of the magazine. Is this a sign of a weak round not fully cycling my gun?

Tonight seemed like it was my best as far as consistency goes. Last time out, someone let me shoot their Beretta (I really liked the sights on that gun compared to my GSG 1911, bigger maybe?). Anyways, after the first shot I knew my grip wasn't tight enough, and probably hadn't been with the .22. So tonight I had a firmer grip and I believe they may have been what helped. Also, really focusing on a slow trigger pull/squeeze.

Love the gun.. I think I am getting a Glok-17 next.

Curious were you downstairs at ama? I was up stairs shooting my GSG tonight as well. I had problems with the winchester bulk ammo and switched out to CCI blasers tonight. Big difference, not one problem at all. Gun shoots great.

Can anyone comment on the armco-guns GSG 1911's? Is it worth the extra price to buy it 'tuned' (what ever that entails). I noticed that they also sell a custom SS guide rod. Does that guide rod (and a bushing) solve the problems that the GSG 1911 is having?

I'm stuck between getting the GSG or the ruger mark iii.

the new gsg does not have the guide rod problem. At least mine doesn't. Bought it a month ago from blueline.

I bought mine from Armco. I couldn't tell you if it is worth it since I have never shot a non-tuned gun. It was only an extra $50, it seemed worth it to me. Maybe next time Hunter850 and I should swap guns and see :D

I put a box of Federal 525 value pack through it. Now I am working on a box of Federal American Eagle. Look through my posts to see the issue I have had with it. Mostly I was having a bunch of failures to feed which were due to how I was putting the last round in the magazine.

I'm still looking to get advice on last night's issue:

I have about 2k rounds through mine now, not too many problems. My guide rod is bent quite a bit but it has yet to fail. I did have an issue with casings getting stuck in the chamber but a quick cleaning got it back to 100%. I also tried to run the gun with heavy oil and some grease but that seemed to slow the action down too much.

I had same problems with mine as you described. If you are at the club next Tuesday look me up. I have some cci blazers you can try. They work great.

Not sure what the tuning process is. Mine shoots great. I find that the slide release lever is really loose and a couple times it moved out slightly causing the slide to stick. Last night it worked flawlessly.

Please PM us with your name and address and we will have a new guide rod sent out to you immediately.

Just got my GSG 1911 from Blue Line on Friday and had it out this past weekend. Gave it a thorough cleaning and lightly lubed beforehand. The first 10 rds showed it printing low at 17 yrds so replaced the front sight (lost the first one in the process :() and now it's putting the rounds just above point of aim. I ran over 200 rds of assorted ammo through and only had two fail to feeds both out of the same mag. The trigger felt gritty at first but seems to be improving. Time will tell. The mags are well made and very easy to load. All in all I'm very happy with my GSG. It makes an affordable shooting companion to my 1911-A1 .45ACP :)

Steel guide rod. That's all they need to do.

I'm amazed they haven't done it

The 1st gen I believe uses this steel guide rod. Cost cutting, maybe, they changed to cast aluminum guide rod. Even the 1st gen barrel bushing was made of cast aluminum then switched to steel after confirmed issues of broken bushings. I hope they change the finish to something similar to the CZ's polycoat which is a lot harder than the current GSG finish.
